Horse prices - what should I really be paying?!

Thanks guys, will take a look at the Irish imports. Am tempted to go to the sales but never been to one before so a bit intimidated by the prospect! Any tips?

Horse prices - what should I really be paying?!

I am currently searching for my next best friend and am completely baffled by how many horses are priced.....it seems that a young unbroken and unknown prospect costs more in some cases than a proven eventer?! (And these are not horses with top notch breeding!). It is leaving me very confused as...

Buying horses from Ireland - any experiences, tips etc?

I am considering purchasing a youngster from Ireland and am scared! I am an OCD researcher so buying something unseen is against my nature but have come across a couple of nice ones which seem to be a good price. Has anyone done this and does anyone have any advice? I am after a youngster, age...

Anyone know what this might be...?

Just to add in response to missyclare, pic isn't the best angle, as I said the front is intact (not hanging) and perfectly inflated and healthy - farrier also trimmed it and nice and healthy underneath. He actually said to me yesterday that ironically, aside from his heels he has never seen his...

Anyone know what this might be...?

Hi, thanks for the comments but it is not thrush (no smell, discharge, pus etc) and the horse has since been reshod (he is shod every 6 wks so was slightly overdue on the pic, oops!) - you couldn't get a q-tip in there, frog is sound and healthy, as is rest of hoof....issue is isolated to heel...

    Mycotoxin testing for pasture

Hi guys, I work in the animal feed industry (Im a nutritionist) and do a lot with mycotoxins - it is extremely difficult to accurately test as they tend to occur in hotspots around a field, and also it can be very expensive. there are not many significant toxins that affect pasture anyway, so in...

Anyone know what this might be...?

Hi all, Does anyone know what this might be? Isolated to the bulbs of heels of one front and one back hoof, not on skin, just hoofy bit. kind of crusty, almost looks like its been eaten, not massively sore when I mess with it, no heat in leg or anything. have got vet and farrier coming but...

Selling a 'quirky' horse - advice please!

Thanks all for your comments - be positive has very kindly given me some very good advice on reworking my existing ad and video which I shall do. Don't get me wrong she is actually very fit and doesn't mess around for my instructor but she's very good at sensing weakness! She has some...

Selling a 'quirky' horse - advice please!

Thanks Equi - what sort of headline do you think I should use? I think mine says Talented all rounder - bazaars chief x Mayhill (obv her breeding) - would I be better off saying something along the lines of her being a project or prospect? A couple of people have commented about serious people...

Selling a 'quirky' horse - advice please!

She's 6, with very low mileage due to me having 2 kids during that time, really only in work since last year. Lovely paces and a fab easy jump. I was worried I had made the advert make her sound better than she is to be honest but then it's always different reading it through someone else's eyes!

Selling a 'quirky' horse - advice please!

Lol no the advert doesn't say she's quirky! I think I have said she's not a novice ride as can be opinionated but is no problem for an experienced confident rider, or something along those lines. Basically she's a bit nappy when she has a difference if opinion with you as to what she wants to...

Selling a 'quirky' horse - advice please!

Am feeling rather fed up and need some advice please! My mare has been for sale for several weeks with no interest. She's a quirky one...I've owned her since a foal and love her to bits but I now have 2 small kids and another older horse and I can't cope with the commitment any more (mainly...
