The 2012 racing season has now killed 50 horses!!

No, the figures aren't online. However, one only has to look at the obvious to realise that eventing is far less taxing on horses. They go round one at a time and at slower speeds. The fences have been made safer (with frangible pins and by lowering them), and the roads, tracks, and steeple...

The 2012 racing season has now killed 50 horses!!

Far more pressing than getting rid of a nasty sport that kills horses left, right, and centre? Your comment WAS callous because it meant that it doesn't matter if they die - just as long as it's quick.

The 2012 racing season has now killed 50 horses!!

I wholeheartedly object to a 'sport' that has such a high fatality rate. That repeatedly puts tremendous amounts of strain on horses as young as two and three-years old. That sends them galloping over horrible jumps from as early on as four-years-old. Sorry, but no other horse sport is anywhere...

The 2012 racing season has now killed 50 horses!!

My attitude?! Yours is appalling!! You are blatantly refusing to admit (or even care) that racing kills far, far too many horses!! As for your last sentence. What a callous thing to say!!

Here we go again. Just because horses die due to cruelty, etc, makes the deaths in racing alright. What a terrible attitude!

    Anyone else exhausted?

I am also suffering! I have sat through ALL of the equestrian coverage. Recorded it too (which is just as well as I did need to visit the yard a couple of times a day), so sat through what I missed afterwards. I think my eyes and the rest of my body will wonder what has hit them come Friday! I...

Surprise Leaders in the show jumping

Still, though, they haven't bred or produced the horses to top level. Other people have done that very hard work. I am sorry, but I am fed-up of horses exchanging hands as often. It sometimes makes it impossible to keep track of horses, and puts a lot of people off the sport as the horses are...

What happens to the show jumps after the games?

One or more will probably go to Spruce Meadows. They have quite a collection of Olympic fences. Here are a few photos of some of their fences. I rather like the Coins, but the butterfly one is pretty too.

How can I get Mike Tucker sacked?

Do you mean Jon Garner and Ian Allison? I think they are fabulous and don't even make a fraction of the same mistakes that Mike Tucker and many of our other commentators make. Garner is a very experienced rider too and here is a great article about him. Ian Allison is also a wealth of...

Biggest Commentary Mistake at the Olympics?

When both Mike Tucker and Andy Austin kept on saying that Tiffany Foster was competing, but it was in actual fact Jaime Azcarraga. Oops!! They didn't notice until he had finished his round. Bet they were embarrassed.

    Olympic showjumping

There was no need for a whip correction at all. She completely screwed-up the striding, and presented the horse (not once, but twice) at a virtually impossible angle. She and Christian Ahlmann should be thoroughly ashamed of themselves for using the whip in temper!

At least one will be going to Spruce Meadows. They have quite a collection of Olympic fences. My favourite being the Athens Coins.

    noone watching the SJ?

Completely agree regarding the whip abuse. If I had my way, Christian Ahlmann and Beezie Madden would have been disqualified. They used their whips out of temper and both left the arena with faces like fizz. Very disheartening to see this and rollkur at the Olympics. What on earth is wrong with...
