    Horse suddenly biting?!

Yes I probably was - hence my question in how would others deal with it? I did do something about it, and yes it has to be much quicker in future! He was only clipped on his neck, chest and legs… and like i said I may have been brushing with the body brush just too enthusiastically ...

    Horse suddenly biting?!

just going to chime in here as its my daughter who posted originally at the top :) I have also written on the Intelligent horsemanship site to glean any ideas there too. This is what I wrote to them, horse bit me hard on the arm last week when I was grooming - and MAYBE I was just being too...

    Horse suddenly biting?!

Hi everyone, so my horse has suddenly (in the last few days) become very nippy when being groomed, and generally just seems a bit fed up with ears pinned back a lot of the time when he's tied up to get ready for a ride. He seems bothered at being touched/groomed much and is constantly got his...

How long did it take for your horse to settle into new place?

Just curious as to how long any of your new horses took to really settle in to their new place. What things did they do when they first came that showed they were settling in and how have they changed?

Transfer of owner details ( new horse) how and where to send?

Im in the UK. Our horse we bought in the UK has an Irish passport. I am unfamiliar with what a passport no./ chip no. is ( because when I last had a horse it was before passports were mandatory ) Is the identification number the same as the chip number? When we did a health check ( not a...

Newly barefoot on back feet - adjustment time?

We decided with the farrier that the horse's feet look ok to take back shoes off - partly so we can possibly integrate him in field with horses with no worries of injuries with back feet flying :) and partly we like the idea of going natural.. Now we have them off but shoes on the front. I...

Relaxed horse? nearly falls over if he nods off!

This is happened twice now. We have had him about 8 weeks, he is an Irish breed and a lovely nature - we hacked him up to previous yard he was at for a couple of weeks ( 20 mins trot and walk), and when we took him up first time he was a bit anxious - probably to see his buddies that he had...

    Teaching mounting block manners..

thanks everyone - great ideas - have yet to try polos but food or lack of it for picking his feet out sorts that issue - so maybe a polo will do for this issue when he does stand. Turning in circles does tend to wind him up more but may still use that or the backing up- thanks!

    Teaching mounting block manners..

We have a good teachable boy. I do like a horse to stand quietly at a mounting block - he's OK but not completely where I would like him to be with it. I have taken to on grooming times, taken him just with his rugs on and have him stand at block, pat him, make a fuss if he's being a saint, then...
