Thanks, sounds good to me. we are on a very tight budget.
The placement is fine, its shaded under trees and flat, not boggy (the whole field is flat)
does the topsoil need to be scraped off, or can we lay chippings & compact them on top of the topsoil? (I'm not think, just don't know about...
We have moved house and now have our own field behind the house (after years of borrowing fields)
I am planning a sort of sacrifice area for the ponies (I have 3)
they will hopefully use it when the field is too muddy or the grass is too green.
They live out 24/7
their field shelter will be...
I am in Brittany, and have just started having Ian Whatley. so far so good. I am very pleased with him and his skill & knowledge.
I know he seems to travel all over, but I'm not sure of the exact areas, but well worth contacting him.

I have a 14.2 good doer cob and a 10hh shetland on 5000m² of grazing (about an acre I think).
It is divided into four. One part has water & shelter in and theres not much grass (eaten down)
I rotate between the other three, approx one strip a week as it is good grass.
it is still growing, and...
bought mine from here

quite a bit cheaper than the rubber mats, and so far so good.
No idea about bark chippings, but I've been looking at doing something similar for the muddy & worn areas in the paddock.
I live in France, the price of the rubber grass mats here is extortionate.
Also to import them, price of mats is ok, but the transport cost is ridiculous!
I've found a fab...
My mare who is 13 has ringbone in fronts and start of bone spavin on rear hock. She is barefoot, lives out 24/7, and I just use her for hacking out.
She went lame a year ago, rested her, after vets said to, but wasnt improving. so took her last summer for xrays, then she had corticosteroid...
I won't be able to clip him as he lives out, and the weather isn't warm enough yet. same for bathing him yet.
could I use frontline spray in various key places on his body?
(I used this for my mare's legs when she had mites and it worked).
We have just acquired a shetland for company for my cob mare.
Never had one before. He is extremely woolley (due I think to living out without a shelter).
the owner says he has no history of sweet itch and has no ilnesses.
However, today he has started to itch a fair bit. (I've had him 3...
a daft question but here goes.....
My mare, Maya, has been on her own for a year (since putting our other mare, Harmonie, on loan)
Harmonie was the first pony at our house, then my Maya joined her (she is sooo undominant). Harmonie did put her in her place, but was never nasty, and always...
You may have read some of my other posts, my mare (14) was diagnosed with navicular syndrome last July. Plus arthritis.:(
Vet gave her corticosteroid injections into the joint initiamlly, then I gave her a course of adequan.
she is also on equine answers premierflex plus.
She has been...
has anyone fed/feeds equine answers, premier flex plus?
I am looking for a supp for my navi mare, who also has arthritis.

hi thanks
she is the same lame as when she started with the navicular.
about 30% lame front nearside leg, plus pointing it when at rest.
I 'd assumed it was to do with the navicular, and that the steroids injections she had in july had worn off, but I suppose she could have slipped or...
My navi horse, Maya is lame again, just started a course of bute, I am thinking forward a bit to the future.
I don't want to give her bute long term.
Can anyone recommend a good alternative (that works!) that you can give long term if needed?
