Thanks guys ( gals:D) loads of really useful advice there .. i'll set oiff in search of green lipped mussel stuff - sounds disgusting! But at least we know labs eat just about anything.. My big lad is about 36kgs and is on 30ml metacam per day , but he's no less limpy than 3 weeks ago...
Aghhhh , need some help from the doggie experts on here ..
Charlie , my 8 yr old Lab started limping a bit a few weeks ago , then one day he was very distressed , stiff and using his shoulder like a paddle
So i shuffled him into the vets and was told that he's got two things going on ...
Sometimes it seems that months can go by with the hubub of general day to day life and then out of nowhere - WHAM it hits you like a steam train , usually triggered by something trivial . Having a good cry will do you the world of good , it'll reset your focus on here and now , but it also lets...
HI QB , just be careful about the cow parsley as it does have similar flowers etc to water hemlock and giant hogweed both of which CAN be poisonous but mostly towards the root end , but if your mare is sensitive to it then it maybe worth having agood look around the paddock . We have hemlock all...
I like to say on behalf of Paddy Irish ,a HUGE thank you to everyone who's wished him luck both on the thread and via PM's , he'll probably be having his scan about now and will be too doped up to know anything...thanks for the offers re: transport home , i've provisionally booked the same guy...
yeah!- especially as all this is being recorded on video
I'm not sure how long it'll all take , if they scan this arvo , he'll be in scan-land , no contact with anyone for two days min , but the vet's say's there's a few issues going on so she need's to find out if they are one causing...
Morning all...
Paddy arrived at bristol vets at about 1pm after he left here at 9.20...he loaded perfectly which was a relief after 10 months of not going anywhere.
The first vet did his initial examination , just a basic ' in stable ' assessment and found back pain , and also neck pain ...
Oh blimey , my heart goes out to you and your family , what a terrible shock and like you said thank god you were with him at home . Nothing can take away the raw pain of these tragic events , but i'm sending a huge hug from me and Paddy. xx
Oh elle , he's just adorable , i'd be in a constant state of panic - that's why i'm not a mum!! But i take it he'll get stronger as time goes on , what a beautiful boy.
He looks like a cracker to me , and i agree with the others who say some people wouldn't know a fit horse if it ran them over , like some people think it's acceptable to keep a horse in ' show condition' when really it's nothing short of obese.
