Yup - And he does play with his friends for at least 13 hours a day... But yes.. im selfish and i would like him to play with me for half an hour. Oh god smite me....

What did people use before a sursingle was invented?
Its not about the rope, or the saddle, or the rug - or anything!
Its preparing the horse for anything in any situation
Its about having a converstaion with your horse to say "im about to do this...
We learn to throw ropes over horses backs etc just as a simulation
That stick and rope might be a saddle one day going up over a horses back? A rug? A plastic bag blowing in the wind whilst your hacking out?

I completely agree... So why would people who practise parelli have to be tarnished with the same brush?
Ultimately the "carrot stick" we use is a peice of fibreglass.. What would be the difference in a baseball bat or a cricket bat?

How about some preperation yourself?
teach her to pick her feet up, tap them with your hand, release straight away when she stands still
reward with treats if she is very food orinated?
Do this in an open space and not tied up- hold the rope yourself so that she doesnt feel so trapped? May work

Because she is also on a bit of diet.. she has only been fed "Safe and Sound" all summer and in during the day with a haynet and out at night as we wanted to prevent laminitus (which we did yay!)
So all she has been getting is a handful of safe and sound...
Thank you for words of support. I know i can only move forward from this - We are fully prepared to give her the correct management for this. She will have as long as she needs off and not brought back in to work one minute before she is well enough again.
