    Normal behaviour!?

The dog and I were watching Country File on TV this evening. Every time a close up of animals came on he started whining and eventually barking at them - the larger the animal in real life the more he reacted - sheep and chickens got a whine, cows and horses got a bark. Is this common doggy...

Its been a long time since I posted anything on here but I have just been talking to someone about keeping horses alone - I mean alone rather on their own in a field with other horses next door?

How to let dog know he can get on the sofa/bed without asking?

Hes a medium size Corgi cross - and I'll have a think about a step. LOL to barking in your face - it makes me jump a mile when he suddenly barks because its time for a walk or dinner

How to let dog know he can get on the sofa/bed without asking?

I hadn't thought about that - he does have a routine with the bed that he only gets up on OHs side, although he has to run around and look at my side first - I had put this down to arthritus in one front leg. So maybe I should be grateful for only having to sit up and pat the bed if I now have...

How to let dog know he can get on the sofa/bed without asking?

We have only had our 13 year old dog a few months. I don't mind if he gets on the sofa or bed (although he has got a couple of his own beds around the house). The problem is that he feels he has to ask by whining until you pat the bed (hes quite deaf) to invite him up - this is a problem when...

    FLEAS

I did the dog and cats a couple of weeks ago and regularly spray the carpets, bedding etc with Indorex - they still have fleas - I can tell when its a problem as the kids complain they are getting bitten I have a large bottle of the spray of frontline but will get something else when it runs...

    Tick help??

I have found the hook very good - the tick comes off easily and I know that it isn't going to die and drop off somewhere in my bed (dogs favourite sleeping place). Don't try to burn them or get them to detach with alcohol - apparently it can cause them to puke, which can spread any disease they...

Looking for a new rescue dog and have noticed two things...

We got our dog from wood green animal shelter - they were fine about taking him home with cats and a child of 7 and have this sort of information about dogs on their website. They may be too far away for you but they always have a range of dogs that are suitable for living with children and...

    SNORING!!

I love hearing my dog on the end of the bed at night snoring and yipping - he must be exhausted some night as he makes running motions with his legs However, he isn't loud enough to keep me awake - would poking him and telling him to turn over work - it does with people

    where to find missing dog

Thank you for all the replies - he was only in the back garden of the house over the road - rolling on their lawn! They rang the number on his collar (he is chipped as well). I've walked miles, knocked on loads of doors on in the area where I could see people were up, stopped walkers and...

    where to find missing dog

We realised this morning that our dog has managed to get through the fence in the early hours of the morning. I have put notices up in the area and searched, asked people etc. I have the number of the local dog warden and was trying to find the number of the local rspca, but it seems very...

Ideas for tempting a dog to food?

Are you looking a bit poor after all that exercise! My dog is just a mixed breed pooch but he is quite fussy about what he eats but he loves cat food and tinned fish - the house currently stinks of tinned salmon he and the cats had for breakfast . We had to try him on a range of different...

Trailer insurance now I have no horses

Can anyone recommend an insurer for my trailer as I have been told by NFU that they don't insure horse trailers if you don't have a horse insured with them? I can see lots of sites to insure with but I really wanted someone reliable. Thank you for any advice!
