Does anyone know of a couple of nice shetties for sale in the north west? Tried all the usual sites, preloved/H&H/horsemart etc but have yet to find anything. Ideally looking for a pair of reasonably well handled mares, any suggestions on where else to look
look?
Ariat Grasmeres. Seriously, they should pay me I recommend these so often! I absolutely destroy every pair of boots I touch (including like you some uber expensive dubarrys) but the Ariats lasted through years of very tough wear. I have a pair of Tuffa Suffolks too which are lovely looking and...
I own grasmeres and dubarrys (can't remember the model name but they're the ones everyone has!) - I would definitely go for the ariats every time. For the money my dubarrys cost me I'm pretty horrified at how quickly they've started to look tatty. My ariats are fabulous by comparison and much...
Staffies are very prone to mast cell tumours which often seem to present as small lumps or skin tag/wart looking lumps, our vet at the rescue always removes these kinds of lumps. I would definitely go back to the vets sorry
Fingers crossed for your pup, you must be so worried :( Certainly sounds like a vaccine reaction, what breed is she? It is much more common in some than others, we lost a Dobie at work last year in the same circumstances, very upsetting for all involved.
I think he sounds like a really fun chap to share so I'm surprised you've had no offers. I really think you need to put costs and days down though, people may be put off by not being clear on exactly how much time/money you're after.
If you're asking £55 pm livery plus £15ish pm for shoes thats...
I did biovet and whilst a lot of jobs offered afterwards are lab based there are also opportunities that involve hands on work. Someone I went to uni with is now a farm inspector for DEFRA, nice company car and lots of variety in the work. I worked in veterinary pharmaceutical research for a...
Frizz ease will make it waaay more slippery; hairspray is definitely the way to go or root powder if you happen to have any will make it nice and grippy
I think the above solution sounds good, she could start by crating him in the car to get him habituated to it in his "safe" place then use the crate with the same bed etc in the stable until he gets used to it. At least he will be safe in there and have some room to walk around/escape prying...
We always advise to wait and see if they come into season under these circumstances; a scar doesn't always mean they've been spayed, hernia repairs and c sections can produce similar scars and I have had lots of bitches whose scars weren't obvious at all.
Perhaps you could offer to help rehome him rather than take him on yourself? He doesn't sound right for you if you often have to hack alone and he won't do it! This will become a PITA pretty fast. If your current horse doesn't recover fully it sounds like you would end up lumbered with a horse...
