I use bits with a french link mouthpiece - he didn't like a single jointed one as he has quite a low palate and therfore prefers the double joint. He also has quite fleshy lips as well. His bridle was made to measure for him.

Yes getting rid of the hair will really help - had to get my arab sedated so I could clip his legs out in order to clear his up in the autumn - the skin could never get totally dry under the hair which was making it worse
