    thoughts on this horse please?

Is she advertised as broodmare / companion because of her foreleg conformation? My first thought was tb that has been in training but then left for a while.

Just for fun -What's your most idiotic fall?

Not really idiotic but a girl came to view my tb gelding whom I've had for 5 and a half years and never fallen off which I'd advertised for part loan. He frightened her and she got off so I got on to show her how it was done and he dropped me the far side of the field and legged it back to his...

The myths about sugars, grass, fertiliser and laminitis

Interesting. I have a 7yo tb who started with mild laminitis 2 years ago and I had major trouble with him on one particular yard which the turn out fields had been arable and were planted with purely rye grass and he could tolerate no more than about 2 hours around June time. Now on a...

    Ex racehorse tips please.

Mine also hacks on a loose rein and usually alone, the more you do the better they get. I went for a hack around the village bareback today as having saddle issues, got some funny looks though!

Any types of horse not prone to Laminitis????

My tb was diagnosed with it age 5, now 7. He's been tested for EMS and Cushings and both were negative, it's purely diet related. He can't cope with rye grazing at all, and is managed as an ulcer prone horse, ad lib forage, fast fibre with molasses free alfa a, protexin gut balancer, pro hoof...

    Riding School in Durham

Is Coppy Farm still a riding school? I know they still have a livery yard there. I did my BHS exams there as a working pupil there 20 years ago, it was a big riding school / livery and they were big into showing then, had wins at HOYS with hacks and ponies.

Large yards - how to cope with the difficult ones!

I go to the yard to do my horse and that alone and don't want the distractions as time is limited and I'm not a very sociable person anyway, I don't see why this should be a problem to other liveries, it's not personal, but i'd rather spend the time with my horse!

Does any1 own Thoroughbreds for just hacking? without competing?

I have an ex irish point to pointer that's the most laid back horse ever and has absolutely no attitude what's so ever and a flat bred that's a total diva, sharp, argumentative and unpredictable. He also tests the rider! In general I've worked with point to pointers and hunt horses ( some ex...
