Help me find tags for feed buckets?

How many horses? If not too many, colour coordinate the stables instead. We have 7 & each horse is assigned a colour for headcollar/leadrope, haynet & buckets. Might seem a relatively large expenditure but it's the most effective, most safe way and will save replacing broken/lost tags often.

Yard Etiquette: The unwritten rules ....

Bad thing about 'unwritten rules' is that they aren't here nor there so what you actually get is a bunch of people governing themselves. Personally I prefer black & white rules and more importantly, common sense.

What do you think this is? Veteran mare

Thanks Tyssandi, I was thinking UTI or something else sinister as I've had this mare for almost 15 years & have never noticed this. Odd!

What do you think this is? Veteran mare

Noticed some white discharge on my mares vulva today. Kind of resembles dry white bird poo? I'll post a pic if I can & vet will be arranged but any experiences?

Council have just been round - Stable tax

Going by this - https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/413963/Stables-business-rates-or-council-tax.pdf Am I right in thinking that if the stables are within the curtilage of the house then the stables are included with the council tax on the house? So if...

MSc Equine Science at Hartpury - experiences?

No experience of that particular course but I went to Hartpury as an FE student 2010-2012. Best time of my life, absolutely loved it & I do miss it! Also never took my horse but had friends who did & often mucked in to help - also, if you're thinking of loaning her to the college; the care is...

Getting land ready for grazing - What to do & when?

Thankyou to everyone who replied for your sound advice! Thanks Mike for this though - it's got me going in the right direction! Aware of change of use requirement. It's the corner of an existing field created by a motorway being built through it thus rendering the land pretty useless in terms...

Getting land ready for grazing - What to do & when?

Thanks for this! I had also thought it would benefit - although the idea of a crash on the M18 caused by one of the little blighters makes me shudder. If I got some sheep on I'd have to get some stock proof mesh to give me peace of mind, every time I drive past our local farmers paddock (he uses...

Getting land ready for grazing - What to do & when?

Exactly what I needed - thankyou so much! I was also thinking a similar time but I think realistically they will need to be on there before then so sectioning it off will be the way to go I think - current grazing is basically non-existent & I'd rather put the extra few grand I'd save on a new...

Getting land ready for grazing - What to do & when?

Evening everyone, Long story short, about to acquire almost 3 acres of land previously agri but was used as set-aside for some time. It's not perfect by any means (horses are going to be neighbours with the M18 & it's an odd triangular shape) but it's in the quiet, historical village I grew...

If Dubarrys aren't the best boot, what are?

I have a pair of Dubarry Galway boots that are around 4 years old. Most people forget that they need to be rinsed after mucking out as ammonia rots the stitching & the leather hence the 'omg I spent £300 on boots that leak' threads. Look after them & they will look after you. I have recently...

    Recommendations on feeding good-doer's

Feeding the Welsh D Original Dengie Hi-Fi with Apple Cider Vinegar. Thinking about doing away with the ACV & getting seaweed instead - it's cheaper! The old one has it for her joints/vitality as well as D&H 16+ mix & oil

Rutland energiser help - am I missing something?

The Welsh one has realised the old occupiers of his field have taken the energiser from his fence resulting in many lost insulators & a couple of posts so I've just been looking them up but I've never constructed my own electric fence. Think I've got it sorted BUT the battery life on the...
