Thanks everyone, will definitely look into an air jacket as I did get a scare especially as I was only riding at a walk in what I thought was a safe environment
Hi, I had a fall recently, we were walking quietly when my horse spooked, took off and I came off. No major damage was done thank goodness, however I did hurt my neck which got me thinking what is there out there that would help protect a riders neck? Yes we have hats, back/body protectors...
Recently moved to a new place where our supply of water for the horses comes from a pond into an old metal bowser which we all fill our troughs from. Today as I was pouring the water into our trough I found large flakes of hard rusty metal in the water, never had anything like this before...
Thanks everyone, I will be looking for somewhere else in the spring/summer as I honestly couldn't go through a whole winter without turnout. I
have always had turnout all year round not just from May to October! I do not understand why livery yards seem to have 20 stables and only 10 acres max...
Hi, I have just moved onto a livery yard that does not allow winter turnout and am finding it difficult for my horse and myself adjusting. Any suggestions to make life easier for us both would be greatly appreciated. (BTW I had no choice but to move to the yard as we lost our grazing and this...
I have tried the muesli and LeichtGenuss and none of our horses like it, one is a cob who eats anything usually. So its back to an feeding more locally produced British feed!
Thanks everyone, the grazing does get waterlogged in winter so I myself thought the more acres the better so I could rest what was used in winter over the summer letting the land and grass recover and also use the driest area for winter grazing and the area that gets waterlogged keep for the...
Thanks, that sounds great Is he still on steroids? Also how bad was the IBD our mare has it in both large and small intestines. She has started on steroids last week and is eating better now but still in vet hospital as one day she is alert then other times she looks so depressed. xx
I know this is an old post but would really like to hear how the horses with IBD are doing now as ours has just been diagnosed with the disease. Thanks
Our 4yo has been diagnosed with IBD and we are looking for any other owners with horses with this disease for advice on treatment and long term outcome good or bad. She unfortunately has it in both large and small intestine and vet has put her on steroids. Thanks
