Certainly green poos here in Yorkshire.
While it's grim rain and mist constantly - it is mild 6-8 degrees.
Anything over 5-6 degrees and the grass will grow
A truly horrible day here (again!) and you can see how they use it.
It used to be stables along the back in a U shape around the internal yard - gate over the front and back stables gone and it's quite a big space
You can see the hole cut in the back on the left that leads to the field...
2 winters ago I took a bold step - stripped out 4 internal stables and cut a big hole in the back of my American barn and had a professional track put in to the winter field behind the barn - all properly fenced.
It wasn't cheap and I've fewer stables now but ...... it's been life changing...
If only there was a clear line between field sound and not or serviceably sound or not.
Sadly over the years I've had several and they really varied over the seasons. One went down hill with hard ground in the summer but was very happy when it was muddy (lots of people commenting that "he...
I think most of us here are in the UK so the rules might not apply. It is probably best to speak to a local French broker and see what they can find for you that suits the cover you are looking for in your geography.
Brokers have a good overview of what is available and what is best priced
Chasing birds is a great game, despite being spooked by pigeons when riding they are fair game out.
They often chase a pheasant who run along then eventually get into flight and hop the wall. Then they all stare longingly at the creature who has magic'ed themselves into the long grass field -...
It is a child or an adult? - any one around them that they might listen to that you could speak to?
Who has spoken to them about the soundness / saddle / lack of a day off - were you there and do you know how clearly it was put to them.
Some people believe they have "said something" while...
I'd try your local allotment if there is nowhere at home to use is as mulch / compost. I thought you had 3 round bales, which might have been a bit more tricky
Knowing my luck I'd be done for fly tipping if it was left on verges.
I think memories are the best memory, a few photos to trigger those.
I have been in horses for 35 years, I've sadly lost several horses as I've also had a habit of taking on older / ones with issues from friends of friends to give them a nice end.
I have several bundles of black tail hair on...
I'd be harder on a youngster with niggles than an older horse where there is value in their experience - assuming they have a recent track record of doing what level work I wanted them to do.
I was gifted a 14 y/o ex top level eventer who had a list of insurance exclusions 2 pages long and...
I use progressive earth pro hoof platinum - it is definitely not the most palatable but they do look so well on it. My fussy one has to have a handful of something molasses and bad to eat it - but I understand from a nutritionist that minerals do taste grim so maybe it's less full of fillers...
Think more about what you can offer - mature, common sense, competent - years of experience, willing to learn, can do week days, can drive etc.
Rather than worry about whether you are riding at a top level.
