I'd be harder on a youngster with niggles than an older horse where there is value in their experience - assuming they have a recent track record of doing what level work I wanted them to do.
I was gifted a 14 y/o ex top level eventer who had a list of insurance exclusions 2 pages long and...
I use progressive earth pro hoof platinum - it is definitely not the most palatable but they do look so well on it. My fussy one has to have a handful of something molasses and bad to eat it - but I understand from a nutritionist that minerals do taste grim so maybe it's less full of fillers...
Think more about what you can offer - mature, common sense, competent - years of experience, willing to learn, can do week days, can drive etc.
Rather than worry about whether you are riding at a top level.
Possibly not - but the OP was asking what would make her more appealing and being able to competently tack up would do that.
Lots of owners are interesting in keeping their horses generally fit - basic hacking in walk mostly can do that, which doesn't require massive riding skill if the horse...
Whereabouts are you? someone on here might know someone?
I would see if your riding school will do horse handling / tacking up etc lessons.
I have part loaned several over the years. Most people who say they are experienced are not. Many who say they are novice are more than that.
My test was...
Sorry for your loss, I had shoes from my heart horse and his headcollar name plate made into a fruit bowl
It is pretty heavy !! but I think even in my old peoples home rule they will let me keep a fruit bowl so it should outlive me !
Mine has a really think main, some of the threads of each plat are probably a 50p in diameter or more - it still looks neat when done I'll dig out a photo
Can you do a running plat for the dressage? You certainly can unaffiliated and it looks really smart.
You're only other option is some form of drastic chopping - solo comb or scissors !
I do exactly this with mine, he largely ignores the top chop but it makes me feel better to know that he has access to forrage - he is just choosing not to eat it.
There are some days (I guess when he is actually hungry) that he will eat it - or half of it.
When on normal grass in normal...
What an amazing achievement. I wouldn't wait too long once the decision has been made. Having it hanging over you could spoil your time together.
Find a day or two when you can spend loads of time with him and when you've got a day or so to recover and take care of yourself. Maybe book a days...
Where are you planning to put the buildings in relation to the field (you may be limited by planning obviously) but you need a good track to get from external entrance to you buildings for deliveries - hay, pallets of bedding, space for them to turn around. Balances with the nearer the middle of...
Nobody should criticise your choice unless they have been in your shoes.
You could (with vet approval) up the bute a lot and see if that helps her in hand behavior. Ultimately there may be long term side effects but it might help in the medium term.
But if you chose not to do that - it...
Minimum wage is now £26k so I think high pay probably has to be 2x that at least.
Earning enough disposable income to spend on an expensive hobby (ours!), have a nice holiday a year, have savings so if the car breaks you can fix it without stressing etc. is probably the ideal for most.
That...
