This is the exact issue I had. Get home from a days hunting and she would be dreadful to wash off. Bought her a hot horse shower and she’s now a delight! Makes my life so much easier.
I pay £13 a month, which covers yearly jab, kennel cough, flea and worm treatment. I find it easier that way, and with being part of the payment plan I got 10% off of having her neutered, and there is a discount for other routine procedures too. I think it’s quite common for vets to do payments...
I love this thread.
Horses are the best levellers of the world. They have taught me more things than a classroom ever would. When people have let me down, the horses never have.
Your winter yard sounds ideal. Room to stretch their legs without being stood in mud - from a mud fever pony owning person, this sounds ideal! Mine quite often, more so this winter… have refused to go out. They are very much content in with a pile of hay out of the weather. Mine would be...
I love Jack Russells. They are the most loyal companions. Last year we lost our traditional JR. She really was our precious princess 👑 the most perfect little person. Never had an issue with recall or her being reactive to any other dogs. She came absolutely everywhere with me and my husband...
Terriers are just the best, such little characters. And they have the best ‘what me?!’ Face when something - which is clearly not their fault happens…….
I love my Mark Todd travel boots. They have put up with some serious battering from my bad traveller. My more sensible one has weatherbeeta ones, they do the job, but they are nowhere near as good as the Mark Todd ones.
We’ve got a 2.5 Isuzu. Absolutely love it towing. Reliable and has more than enough ability to tow anywhere with two on board.
That said. I wouldn’t want to run it as my everyday car! It’s a bit thirsty for that.
I’ve been looking at taking my parsons Jack Russell to some Hoopers training. She’s full of energy, and on the whole pretty well behaved. Locally there aren’t any classes I can make till April. I was just wondering who else does this with their dogs? Is there anything specific they practiced...
Mines got a brown saddle - because that’s what fits. And a black bridle/martingale. She’s piebald so didn’t quite fancy putting a brown bridle on her just to match her saddle.
Our old terrier did both of her cruciate ligaments. We didn’t operate on her, the vet gave her painkillers and we kept her quiet at home. She recovered well and once recovered you’d never have known. We recently lost her, but totally unrelated issue.
I had a new forest as my first pony. Adored her. She was hardy and lapped up the work. She wasn’t always the easiest, certainly taught me to ride in the school. She hunted like an absolute dream.
I’ve now got a part bred new forest, she stands at about 15hh. Bought her at exeter horse market...
