I went to Hartpury (studied animal science) took my horse but couldn't afford to keep him on livery so he had to be used by the college. The academy looked so much fun, I was always so jealous of them!
Hartpury is awesome to be at, loved every minute of it! Can't say what the course would be...
I got a youngster way before I was good enough for him (he was 4, and I was 15!)
Luckily my mum paid for him to be schooled and for a lot of lessons for me, and it worked out amazingly! He is pretty much a school master now but I wouldn't have been able to do it with out lessons.
I think...
My mum has a 13.1 heavy cob who does extremely well in dressage, has a better jump than my horse, and can pull a carriage..
I wouldn't buy myself a cob because I am lazy and like my horse to do all the work, but you can't say that all cobs are the same! they're like any breed - some are lazy...
Yellow Hi-viz is fine, just not with police wording / blue and silver on as well! Very annoying as I was just about to try and get some as a friend of mine who wears it says it has made an amazing difference with drivers!
Ooh I have heard of that but not sure how it works? or how much it costs? (I am seriously poor!) Maybe we should start a non competitive free dressage sharing thing! On other notes very pleased with my pony today, so think tomorrow I might try out the first dressage test - If I can find a copy.
My horse was at Hartpury for 3 years while I was studying there. It was either that or sell him, and even though some one offered me a LOT more than he was worth I suddenly realised I wouldn't be able to sell him so this was the only option.
I have to say during term time he was looked after...
So as I have recently become very poor (student loans and working with animals!!), and also have a lack of transport I have decided that instead of going out to compete I am going to start learning every test from walk and trot up to the last novice, film them, and put them all on you tube...
