    Connemara growth

I deal in Connemaras and I sell mainly 3 and 4 yr olds and I find a large number grow a huge amount even as 4 yr olds and onwards. My own personal Connemara grew nearly 3 inches from a 4 yr old.

    Strangles blood test grey area

I’d just wash…the blood test isn’t great and there’s a good chance it won’t drop.

    Sarcoids and welfare

I would be looking at alternatives to surgery. Have they looked at feeding radiance gold?

Advice, please! Reactivity whilst being Backed!

I’d be wary of buying any unbacked 4 yr old that late in the year especially if it had done a certain amount and no more. If he’s insured I’d be going for a full work out. If he isn’t then I’d start with ulcer treatment and see if that has any affect….remember he needs to be left two weeks when...

    Horse shopping help!

I import and sell connemaras and Irish horses…you will definitely need to double your budget to find something that is backed, genuine and correct. You may find something unbroken but you’ll still be looking around 7k for a good sort of Connie or ISH. I would increase my budget and go for...

    Redpost equestrian

I’ve recently used Leonard Coombe and found the customer service excellent too. Likewise, Redpost have also been very easy to deal with when I have ordered from them.

    Vet checks and deposit

Well, when horses have been in my ownership for years and still test positive there’s obviously something wrong. Especially when further investigations come back negative. In my experience most vets now pouch wash straightaway and don’t bother with another test (unless the horse has recently...

    Vet checks and deposit

I’d be concerned about the chance of an infection where he has been recently gelded. It would also slightly concerned me that this wasn’t mentioned to the purchaser. It could mean one of two things A) He was a very quiet stallion and didn’t need Gelding up until this point B) he has done very...

New horse settling and tack issues?

I’d be scoping/treating for ulcers. It sounds like he’s showing symptoms.

Horse lame 4 months after buying… where do I stand

He/She isn’t a rocking horse….unfortunately things go wrong! If you had or the vet had any concerns then it should have been flagged up on vetting. 4 months later I’d be questioning his/her current shoeing/management/many other reasons why they could have gone lame. Hoping they with corrective...

    Buying a young horse

I sell a huge number of Connies and I’d only consider buying a 3 yr old if it was literally just backed and riding lightly at this time of year. If it’s already ‘developed on the flat’ I’d be concerned it’s done too much too soon. Pricewise anything from £5000-£10000 depending on size, colour...
