The last 18 months I have ridden my horse in a Micklem bridle. I originally bought it because I liked the anatomical headpiece and the fact it stayed off the facial nerves, and he goes well in it.
We are now competing affiliated dressage and starting to move up the levels and i would like to...
I have one which I bought to tow with. I got it new and it's 3 years old now. Love it! I got a 2.2 limited automatic and it's great to tow with. Never struggles, even with 2 big 17hh horses in the back. I've had no problems at all with it.
Putting the older horse to the yard I'm thinking of is essentially retirement livery. It's a quiet yard with not much movement. He would be going out all day with others and in his stable at night.
Thanks for the replies. When in the stable my old guy was never once left on his own. Even to the point that I would pop his other field companion into the stable next door but usually this didn't make any difference.
In the field it did help and that's how I got away with things over the...
I have 2 horses, 1 I've had for 14 years, the other 6. They have been together since I bought the 2nd one.
The older 1 has always been a big stressy horse and gets easily attached. Gradually as he got older I have done less work with him and he is now fully retired (24 years old ).
Problem is...
I have my old horse on 10:10 as well. I took him off it and within a few weeks my farrier commented that he was struggling and was really stiff. Put him back on and next time farrier said he was much better. Parades around the field like a youngster and although semi-retired when he is ridden he...
A few years ago my old boy started coming into his stable and instead of instantly peeing would go to pee but stop. He did this a few times before he actually peed. This went on a week or so, so I called the vet out thinking "oh no kidneys?" Nope massive bean. Problem with him is although he...
I have fed both these things. The C&C is amazing for keeping weight on. It doesn't give too much energy and it would certainly do the job. Great as an everyday basic feed, especially for your older one. The No4 I used when I needed extra. One of mine (now 23) lost weight when I had him hunting...
In the past I let a few people borrow my trailer. However after lending it to a friend to take their sick horse to the vets she failed to tell me it kicked constantly. Next time I went to check it, it had a soft spot on the back ramp, which I had to get replaced at a cost of over £200. Needless...
Try camrosa. Worked a treat on my guys legs. I thought it was mud fever but could never get rid of the last few scabs even in summer. Now I rub camrosa into his heels, every few days in summer, daily in winter and it keeps the scabs away. It softens scabs and gets rid of them in a few days and...
I had my 2 tested a few years ago for a yard move and 1 came back with a weak positive. I had had him for nearly 2.5 years by then, he was never off the yard as wasn't backed (was only 4 at the time) and hardly any other horse on the yard was out competing.
Not wanting to wait 2 weeks I had him...
