^^^ This has been my experience too. We have stayed in lots of cottages with our dogs over the years and have never had any problems with smells, hair etc.
Some cottages charge a separate fee for a dog staying, others doubtless include it in their charges, to cover cleaning.
We stayed here last year - it's a wonderfully comfy cottage in a beautiful part of the Lake District. The owners are lovely too!
