Best bit for a very headstrong horse!

I use a Neue Schule pelham with Waterford mouthpiece. At home schooling etc, I use a hanging cheek snaffle and he's lovely. But jumping and hacking this works much better, although he's still really really strong. As Pearlsaginger says, I also use two reins and I don't use roundings for...

    Altercation with a car.

They close at 11pm so all good! Makes you laugh though, the website gives the opening times and then there's a disclaimer underneath that says to check first by phoning as the opening times are likely to change. Unfortunately they don't give a phone number!

    Altercation with a car.

Yes, I have insurance and have reported the matter to them. I just rang the police but have been told I need to go in person to the police station as this is classed as a road traffic accident. Unfortunately, all our local police stations are closed on a Monday so I'll get to the nearest one...

    Altercation with a car.

Two friends and I were riding up a narrow lane (not wide enough for two cars to pass at once) and a car decided to try and pass us, not waiting for a passing place. I was at the front so she went past two horses before she got to me (we were riding single file). I put my schooling whip over to...

Do you think riding will go back to 'traditonal' ?

I like the traditional look with a bit of modern help with boots etc. All my tack is leather and my leather headcollar was dragged out of the loft when I bought my new horse after an 18 year non-horse-owning gap. Think I'd be carted from here to next week without my grakle though! :)

    Broken bit

Anyone had any experience of a Neue Schule bit breaking? I ride in a Pelham with Waterford mouthpiece. My friend and I had stopped on a hack and she was holding both horses. My horse pulled one way and hers the other. Her reins snapped but my bit broke on the Pelham cheek piece where the...

Very strong showjumper - bit ideas

I have a very strong showjumper who used to be in a Cheltenham Gag. I rang Neue Schule's advice line and they recommended their pelham with a waterford mouthpiece. They also recommended roundings for jumping, but he's happier and goes better without. He's still very strong, but we have more...

    Complain or let it go?

Definitely complain. I had a pair of Hunter wellies that split and leaked in about 10 months. I took them back, got a new pair and then six months later, same thing happened again. Went and complained again and got another pair. Have to admit though, I gave up when the third pair went!!!
