    Supplements?

What supplement would be best for a horse that were an awful lot? Not drinking any more than usual, weeks before being tracked up (in the stable) and more often than not as soon as he is put back in after approx an hour's work. He sometimes is reluctant to move forward when being worked and...

    Hungry pony but not eating

There is very little grass at the moment due to the land being used all winter. We changed his diet to suit hindgut ulcers but again he ate his feed for a week then refused to eat it. We have given grass nuts, Bailey's chopped grass and he ate it for a while but then stopped eating it. It can...

    Hungry pony but not eating

Has anyone had any experience of a pony being hungry it's belly is rumbling, it will eat it's feed like a ravenous pig but then after a week it won't touch the food and we need to change the food it's on. The pony is underweight, barely eats hay/haylage (wolfs down grass), has been checked by...

    Milk thistle for fussy eater

Thanks for replies, don't suppose either of you know what the liquid one is like? I tried to just put a tiny bit of the powder in my hand with sugar beet and he point blank refused to eat it, very unusual for him! Just don't fancy wasting money on different ones that he won't eat!

    Milk thistle for fussy eater

I bought a tub of milk thistle seed powder but my horse will not touch it regardless what i mix it with so was wondering if anyone has had similar issues and if so did you try other types of milk thistle and which one was the most palatable? Thanks in advance.

    RAO and medication/supplements

My pony has RAO, he was scoped a couple of yes ago. He has been living out as much as possible (weather dependant). He is very fat so is on restricted feed as the weight will not help his breathing. We are in a catch 22 situation though as we can't exercise him as he struggles even in walk and...

    Insurance?

Just wondering if insurance companies expect/want/insist on horses to be fully up to date with all jabs even though some vets say so long as tetanus is up to date (with some horses) don't worry about the other jabs?

    Badminton horse trials members?

Just wondering if it's worth buying a members badge and tickets in advance but not sure what "extras" you get by having the members badge? Has anyone had one before and did you gain more from the day?

    Where do I stand??

Google their name/phone number/email address. If they have sold a few then there may be old adverts loitering on the internet. I mean the owner/name on passport not the YO. I can't remember the ins and outs of trading standards but if you sell X number of horses per year then classed as...

    Totally insignificant horsey pet hate

Most of the things that irk me have already been said but a couple more (not got end of list!!). Owners who spend hours at the yard gas bagging to everyone, telling people how to ride their own horses and after 6hrs moan that they are tired or not got time to ride their own horse. Owners who...

    Coughing a milky white phlegm.

Horse coughed up a fair amount of milky white phlegm during exercise, nothing from nostrils (clean, clear and dry). He does have copd however this was the first time I've seen the phlegm, from mouth, milky white and amount. It was the similar consistency of beaten eggs so quite gross! Would...

    Nebulisers?

Thanks for the replies. He is on inhalers and airways (global herbs) at present but has ventapulmin when he really struggles. Also has been on another drug wth the ventapulmin but cannot remember the name of it. The vet suggested a nebuliser as in the long run it would be cheaper. Steroids...

    Nebulisers?

My pony has copd and is really struggling at the moment, vets have suggested a nebuliser but i am not sure what exactly they meant, is there a certain one that is better suited for horses and is there any "medicine" that can be used with it? If anyone has used one or is still using one i...

Is it only my horse that's strange?

I can ride him in fields while others around are kicking off and no reaction. Others can canter off ahead and he is well behaved and respectful. Never have to hold him back or tell him off in those situations, in fact he is perfection. However if he sees a single horse in the next field being...
