    Refusing hard feed after travel

I can't feed in the field as there's other horses out so there would be carnage. I might try her with mint in herd feed and see if that tempts her.

    Refusing hard feed after travel

It's not just when she's just gotten home though, she can come back, go in the field a few hours, come in and eat hay then be given her tea and still turn her nose up at it hours after we've come home? She's always back to normal the next day though.

    Refusing hard feed after travel

Has anyone had any experience of horses going off their hard feed after travel? If my mare goes out in the box for any length of time she picks a little at her tea and then ignores it. She still eats hay, grass and treats, but tips the hard feed out of the bucket. She's normally a good eater...

    First Dressage Tips

Well as it happened I was going to do a big wiggle, I had it all planned out, then when we got there she was being such a baby and staring at everything that we were in slow motion so the half circles actually came pretty easily! If she'd been listening and going forwards it would have been...

    First Dressage Tips

I'm looking for some advice, thanks to any who give their thoughts. I'm taking my youngster to her first dressage soon, it's just intro a and the aim is to get from start to finish without falling off or leaving the arena and generally building some confidence. The difficulty is that's...

    Order of training

Thanks for the replies, they're really helpful, I think maybe another week or two establishing bend and straight and more forwards in the trot, with some polework brought in too and then we'll have a real push towards canter, unless in the meantime she offers it when the trot gets forwards...

Setting up a horse transport business- Advice please!

I would say to speak to VOSA and DEFRA about what legal requirements you would need to meet and what paperwork. Start up costs will basically be buying the vehicle, your fuel and insurance and any marketing costs. Most banks will offer free business banking to start with and you can take payment...

    Order of training

Hello I'm just wondering what order you would usually teach things to a youngster, i.e from being started and learning to walk trot etc? I'm asking because I have a 5 yr old that's just backed this year, she's quite big and in previous years when I started with her she couldn't put...

Human physio advice please (pulled a muscle in my bum!)

It sounds like you've bruised yourself more than pulled something. Echo the sports massage advice. Alternatively have a look at stretches for your piriformis e.g. http://www.livestrong.com/article/36814-piriformis-stretches/ If stretching stop at mild discomfort, don't push on to the point of...

CC - first schooling session after my 'mortifying' lesson

He is very gorgeous and doesn't look remotely ruined. You look like a neat rider other than your hands, but one thing that strikes me is that you look like you're possibly either gripping or leaning on your knee's if that makes sense. This in turnis causing you to arch and hollow your back...

    Another embarassing problem post...

I find them fine however my saddle is buffalo leather so quite grippy anyway when they have a moment. If it was a well worn slippy leather saddle I'm not sure how they would be but possibly still worth a try. They're more comfortable than breeches too I think - I hate having to put my breeches...

    Another embarassing problem post...

Try riding in Lycra running pants - I ride in them because I've usually been for a run or to bootcamp before stables or I'm going after. I don't have your problem as such after a run or whatever I've usually got a canny sweat on and no one can tell (other than my red face). They're comfy too and...
