    Separation Anxiety?

She had her haylage (which is what she's always left with) but looking back I should have perhaps given her her breakfast. They were both fine about him going out before winter but he had winter off so I'm guessing it's just getting them both into the routine again. I rode him out a couple of...

    Separation Anxiety?

I've had my mare now for around 18 months, 9 months ago, due to arthritis, I've had to retire her. I took on another horse in August. My mare, whilst she hates being in the field alone (which never happens now) she is never fussed about being in on her own. My 'new' boy, however, hates her...

    Livery yards and unqualified instructors

My yard owner (with no qualifications) is a much better instructor - in my opinion - than qualified instructors i've had lessons with!

    Ex-racers

I have 2, my first, my mare, I first looked at when a local riding school (who also trained p2p horses),for one reason or another I didn't end up getting her then but we were reunited just over a year ago. I sadly had to retire her in summer and took on my 2nd. I keep my mare on livery at a...

Allergic reaction to bute and danillon

My mare was put on bute earlier in the year due to arthritis in her hind legs. Because she is such a fussy one she just wouldn't eat it, that and i didn't actually find it helped as much as i thought. I was advised to retire her in winter but decided to do this earlier as she got very...

    Insurance for loan horses?

I always believed that full loan meant you were respsonsible for everything to do with that horse. I know my 2 loan neddies, I paid for the insurance as it was in the contracts for both. :-)

Paddock paradise / track system advise.

I used to keep my 2 at a yard with a track system. Altogether there was 2 acres (approx.) with a 7-8ft wide track around the edge of the 2 fields with it opening up at the end of one of the fields. We would fill up the big building bags full of haylage and put lots of small piles around the...

Video: What do you think is wrong?

I would give him i tniny amount of fast fibre, literally just enough for him to take the bute. Do you know where these people live? Sorry if this was mentioned on your original post, but was he on a trial or actually out on loan (baby brain has caused me to forget what was said in your...

Does anyone live in/near redruth? whats the horsey scene like?

I live in Redruth and learnt to ride in this area. I personally think the hacking is great. Got a lot of bridleways round here and its not to far if you want to box your horse to a beach. There are a few livery yards round here (some a lot nicer than others IMO!) and as far as living here is...

    Thoroughbred weight loss

You will find micronised linseed will work better than linseed oil. I used this on my 27yr old tb along with C&C and chaff and had amazing results from it.
