Hello, what has your vet diagnosed as the problem with his hooves. What else are you feeding and have you thought about going barefoot and using boots and pads. It's taken my horse 5 and half months barefoot to become fully sound. My problems all started in august, we did the remidal shoeing...
I would still try the boots and pads, he maybe sound in shoes but he can't keep them on his feet and he is taking half his foot off when he pulls the shoes off. The boots and pads would offer him protection and comfort.
Hey,*
My horse has a similar diagnosis as your boy. We did the remidial shoeing and it didn't help. So we went barefoot against my vets advice *- we didn't have any other options left other than PTS. I got the diet sorted and then asked for his shoes to be removed as soon as the shoes came...
Sorry - I hadn't finished before it posted......
I have switched to speedibeet and oats and my vet has prescribed myoplast for muscle wastage. I hope this is of some help.
Thanks guys, I really appreciate all your suggestions. I think i will switch to the speedibeet and then oats - The vet has also prescribed equitop myoplast to help build his muscles.

Thanks for all you encouraging replies, seems like we are on the right track. The vet came out today and declared him sound on both hindlegs. So we are Going to keep up the good work and hope that the right forleg (reverse pedal bone and impar ligament damage) will come right in time.

Doncella - wow 30 months, I take my hat off to you! Its not easy is it?? I have found it so hard when we have had set backs but overall his feet have improved so much and it's worth sticking with it.

Evening all,
As title really I decided to take my 5 year old TB barefoot in december. It was our last option after exhausting all veterinary and remedial shoeing
avenues. I must at this point add I
wish this had been our first route for
treatment. It's been hard going but I
hope we...
Thanks again ester it's really nice to hear your story as someone who has been through it. My boy is booted for turnout and hacking as he has such thin soles and I just can't risk another sub solar hematoma which would set us back months. He can manage in the school barefoot and I usually spend...
