I've also considered grass livery, not sure if my boy would cope well though as he stands and looks miserable if he's turned out in lashing rain etc. Also not sure whether I could cope with no facilities! But it would definitely help my bank balance!

My boy's the same and will occasionally eat his straw even though he has plenty of hay- hasn't done him any harm so far. Perhaps try putting a salt lick or something in his stable to discourage from it?
