Looking for a new tow car - advice please

We have just bought a 2008 Kia Sorrento. Hubby loves it towed with the trailer for the first time yesterday and it made light work of it. Be careful with the newer ones as the towing capacity is less than the older models. It has all the mod cons. It costs about £80 to fill it up from empty and...

    Being Watched.....

I used to worry but not so much now. like you shavings I am a bigger rider and used to think everyone was laughing at me. However I have since come to the conclusion that as neither of my horse have buckled under my weight I can't be doing much wrong and that a lot of the whispering is due to...

    Livery yards and winter turnout?

I have just moved my horses to another yard in order to allow them more turnout with better grass. However they are on clay so when we had all that rain last week they stayed in for one day! they also stayed in last week for one day as the hunt rode through the fields and I thought it would be...

Does anyone else dread bringing in time?

My boys have been fab so far since we moved yards and they are turned out together. They are usually stood by the gate when I get there. We have a big flood light that shines on the gate so can see what I am doing in the dark. They lead in together and then there stables are up a little ramp and...

How far do you travel regularly for lessons/to compete?

I travel just over an hour for lessons. We are lacking really good instructors in my area and so I find the need to travel. Only down side is I can't afford to have more than one a month due to fuel and lesson cost adding up. Worth it though. For events I would travel up to 2.5 hours.

Horsey military wife desperate to start trade stand business.

Hi I help a friend who owns a tack business at some of the larger horse trials in the summer. It is quite expensive to have a stand at a lot of the shows so you would need to sit down and work out how much you would need to sell in order to cover the cost of the pitch let alone make a profit...

    Fairfax Performance Bridle

I think part of the reason it is as expensive as it is is due to the enormous amount of money they have put into the research. I agree a little steep price wise and not something I could justify, however if you are at the top of your game and a small difference can add up to an increase in...

    Master saddlers - why bother?

I love my saddle fitter. They came highly recommended and is a fully qualified saddle fitter with SMS. I started using them before they became a master saddler which is not an easy accolade to gain. I agree that I would rather use someone who fits day in day out who has common sense and has been...

    Is this legal?

No this is not legal it is a prescription only medication so should only be purchased with a prescription from a vet or pharmacy! You can not guarantee how they have been stored. Would touch with a barge pole!x

    Loosing all mojo.

I feel a bit like this at the moment and know it is because of the yard I am at. I am counting down the days till I move my boys and hope it will give me a kick up the bum to crack on. I have found it tough since getting a 2nd horse to fit everything in but the other day I realised that I have...

    What injuries/accidents have you overcome?

I am the same. I was kicked full on in my arm in the summer. Doctor convinced it was broken. X ray said no. Came off the back of my 18hh boy and landed flat on my back. Thought I had broken my collar bone x ray said no. I have been very lucky this year. :)

    Dressage judging

I have judged at this venue before and most people do make an effort but yesterday I would say only 5 or so riders had made an effort.

    Dressage judging

I spent my Sunday judging intro tests. It is a really fine line between judging them accurately and judging them in a way that encourages them to keep working and improving and wanting to keep competing. Some of the tests I judged were horrible but had I marked them as I wanted to the...
