'You may leave your house to exercise once a day and you should combine this with leaving your house to provide care for your horse or livestock.'
I'm taking to mean: 'Don't do an extra outing for exercise on top of outings for horse care'.
The attitude of some people is beyond me.
A colleague sent me this clip of an elderly lady calling in on a radio programme saying she's still going round to other elderly friends' houses, not caring one bit, and willing to die to have a day out.
The 'sole carer' bit is throwing a lot of people. Many horses on DIY yards have 2/3 carers - either joint owners or part-loaners or people whose husbands do jobs on some days, due to work commitments etc.
Move. Regardless of everything else, including price, I wouldn't want my pony stood in poo all day with rubbish turnout - his/her welfare has to come first.
This makes me fume. On top of everything else, what if the horse had a back injury and was off work and he thumps onto it and sets it back months? Grrr.
Mine is 6 miles away and takes 20 mins to drive there at the weekend and an hour in the week.
It's a pain but there are no yards closer and the yard I'm on is perfect - the family I share from have become my friends and I love the whole set up.
I'd go for the new one if I was you - you'll save...
Have you always had him on the current yard? Just a thought but what if it's something there he's allergic to (not trees)?
Could you leave him on current yard over winter, move him on a trial basis to the other yard in summer when pollen will be high, and if it isn't any good, move him back -...
Mine is 6 miles away - takes an hour to get to after work. It eats up so much time but there's nothing closer.
Time is SO precious. I would stick with the nearer to be honest.
That sounds good. If I ever did it, I have no one who could help so would have to go down the freelance route. Something to bring me back to earth when I'm daydreaming on RightMove :D
Could you contact one of her pals from the yard who could sneakily check what needs replacing the most?
Nice breeches and a cosy coat are always good. Maybe new country boots for mucking out/general yard duties? A snazzy wheelbarrow that can hold all the poo in the world without getting too...
