Just updating everyone, the coughing already seems to be cured! I had 2 nets of hay left to use before I started on the haylage which I soaked one of last night after reading this. Iv just got back from riding now and not 1 cough! So happy! ☺️ Thanks for the advice everyone...
Interested in this, Im going in october aswell so might see you there! 😂 im with you on the buying it all last minute thing, i think 4 weeks before hand is a bit short notice
Dengies alfa-a oil and baileys number 4 conditioning cubes
My tb gelding was the same, mental on calm and condition but nothing else was keeping the weight on him. This stuff is ace tho! He looked better than he ever had in about 2 weeks, reasonably priced, no affect on his behaviour what so ever
The reviews for this ventilate stuff all do seem to be good from what iv found, the price doesnt bother me, would rather pay full wack than faff about with loads of different cheaper options that dont work.
Will definitely be phoning the vet in the morning. Have just tried now and got nowhere...
DIY, with stables and unlimited grazing £15
Grazing along is £6
Very quiet yard, no rules, sort your own bedding, hay, feed etc
No facilities like an arena or anything but the gate does open onto the pennine bridal way to hacking doesnt get any better and we get no myther from the yard owner...
No i hadnt tried soaking his hay, i think i will though if going back to haylage doesnt work. How strange! Iv had him since he was 5 and its only been in the last year or so, he has never had a sorry day otherwise in the whole time iv had him.
Iv decided now after reading all these the vet is...
Thanks i think it is going to be a vet job this week, i did think of those small bales his morning but they are just so expensive! 😱 i have ordered a big one anyway so hopefully we can get through one of those
Yeah the vet will be the next option, just wanted to do a bit of looking into it first before i fork out for the vet if its just a matter of dust avoidance or maybe loose particles in feed or anything like that
I have a 9 year old tb gelding and he has recently coughing, mainly when riding. He is stabled all year round with turnout through the day, on haylage through the winter and hay during the summer (just because he wont finish a full bale of haylage himself in the summer so it goes off). He is...
Conpletely agree with you, too many horses on feeds that don't need them, so many people incorrectly think that they deserve a breakfast and tea like people do.
My thoroughbred is currently worked 5 out of 7 days a week and looks great without a feed just on grazing and good quality haylage...
Hi all, never really put much thought into feed as my horses have all just always had the same feeding plan each, made up when i bought my feed by the tack store owner or have just continued on the same feed they were on from their previous owners.
May be an unbelievably ridiculous question but...
I have a tb and know many others who do, in my opinion it just depends on the horse. My boy stays in year round, ends up looking like a skeleton otherwise! 🙈
Others would be absolutely fine and require no faffing about with
