    Moving decisions…

It is a stress… did the calcs over a year, inc bedding and hay yard B is £79.50 a month extra (that’s including weekend turnout so only one trip at weekends and not including the extra hay and bedding I’d have to buy at yard A for when they stay in in crap weather which I can’t cost up)

    Moving decisions…

Hi all. After some thoughts… Yard A I’m currently on: Pros: it’s cheap compared to what’s in the area. out 24/7 in summer. Herd turnout (horse 1 (of 2) cannot do individual, she paces). They all go out together in winter, so assisted turnout at no extra cost. People tend to bring in late which...

Saddle fitting training around a full time job

Is there anyone that has trained part time as a saddle fitter. Not overly fussed about being part of the society of master saddlers as I’ve found in practice it doesn’t mean a lot (no offence, please don’t shoot me). I have a full time job on a decent wage so would want to do it as a...

Saddle for a broad cob, the minefield!!!

Mine is also young and starting out, keeps stopping, she’s unfit, unbalanced and babyish so I push her on at the advice of instructors, but there that niggle in the back of my mind that it’s also because she’s sore. I’m barely riding and gone back to groundwork because of that niggle. It’s a...

    Harry Dabbs hunter tree

After my rant the other day about not finding saddles, I’ve found a HD hunter gp, on a hunter tree, for a decent price in the size we’re after. Has anyone got any experience of them? In theory the front should work but how flat are the rails and the back panels compared to other “cob” saddles...

Saddle for a broad cob, the minefield!!!

What differences are there between the h&c tree and the ah supercob? Also, been told that the ideal fwb, which is hooped, is very extreme and rarely needed. Is this the same for the supercob in your experience?

Saddle for a broad cob, the minefield!!!

Comes to something when we have to convince the professional… this is why I have no faith. We are just at the start of our journey and I need confidence she’s not sore and she needs to not be sore 🤦‍♀🤷‍♀️

Saddle for a broad cob, the minefield!!!

Thanks guys. My tb is in a HD (obvs different model 😅). With her I know enough to recognise I’m being fobbed off. This hoop/not to hoop lark is confusing. There’s a fitter with an IB which is said is great for wider ones, which I don’t disagree with, but from the read up the hunter sounds...

Saddle for a broad cob, the minefield!!!

I’m after recommendations for a saddle for a very wide cob cross Welsh d, please. Saddle fitter fit a winter wide, 3xw, but the back panels are causing pressure points as is the gullet bar, it’s all just too angled. A cavelletti was suggested but I just don’t see how adjustable saddles will fit...

    Thoroughbred or ethos

Beautiful new stables calls for beautiful new beds. I’ve tried pretty much everything over the years but can never remember why I switch. I think I’m set on either thoroughbred shavings or ethos. Anyone got any up to date thoughts/reviews of either? I hate chopped straw, large flaked...
