    Nostrilvet/nasalease

Hi Was doing some research on ways to make my horse more comfortable in summer, she rubs nose, has runny nose and breathing seems very slightly weird and coughs a lot when we start riding and some head shaking in there. Anyway was thinking of trying nostrilvet and read some threads on this...

Wintering out - your opinions and experiences please

Thanks for replies. The yard owners check the herd twice a day and put out haylage then for them. The field has a river running through and she would actually being going back with an old friend of hers (they were inseperable before).. she does not need much rugging in winter as it is. This...

Wintering out - your opinions and experiences please

Hi I am considering moving my mare to grass livery from April onwards just through circumstances. There would be a possibility that she would go on to winter out. She is a very good doer and possibly has been spoiled over past wee while due to injuries and been in more than she would probably...

    Horse behaviour question

Its a gelding that is injured and mares know him well and have never done this. It is only since he has been injured and wound being cleaned. Its not like the way a foal would behave it is as if both mares are hypnotised and just continually lick air like they would if licking a treacle lick...

    Contracts at Livery Yards

Hi everyone thanks for your replies. I called it part livery but basically the contract was that your horse would either be brought in or put out and this was part of the price. The contract is same as BHS contract with little changes such as the one above and the price structure which is now...

    Contracts at Livery Yards

Just wondering if any one else has been in this situation. I recently moved to a new yard well about 2 months ago. This yard offered part livery and as I have 2 horses and a demanding job this suited me perfectly. All seemed perfect as the yard seemed very well run and everyone friendly. I...

    Greasy heel???

It does sound as if he has mites though if he is scratching. As far as greasy heel goes my mare gets it behind her knee. I brush as much out as possible and then apply pig oil into her skin and this keeps skin soft and stops the build up of the grease which is the white crumbly bits i think...

leg wound---am I doing the right thing?

If you have the slightest concern get a vet. May cause more problems self treating. The fact that you have doubts says to me a vet can only answer!

Gastric Ulcers - advice on treatment

Our 27 year old mare has been showing signs of gastric ulcers. Our vet is up on Friday and going to discuss with him re endescope. Our issue is that due to age she is not insured and gastrogard which through research seems to be the main treatment is so expensive. We have done some research...

I am in glasgow area too and we have all heard the same information, but people are also getting texts that they have been seen in Kilmarnock and Fife. I have contacted all the police stations around our area and they know nothing about it and have had no reports. I think this is turning into...

    Prognosis?

My girl had a tendon injury last October. She was boxed for 8 months, but I feel that this was too long. She had one month boxed then we started walking in hand morning and night and taking her for grass. This lasted about two months and then I started riding again. She is now totally sound...
