Thanks chunky11. Some people do some awful things and I have 2 boys who have been left very scarred by past owners mistreatment of them, they are thoroughly loved and spoilt now as a horse should be. Wagtail, he won't be going to Rossdales due to his head shyness as they'd have to dope him to...

Thanks all, I was leaning towards the conclusion it's some form of cancer and it may also explain why some days he won't even let me touch him. Hes got trust issues when stabled and is hugely head/ ear shy thanks to a previous owner twitching his ear in the stable so sending him to Newmarket for...

Fellow cushings owners, what would you do?

Go with your instincts. If your horse is symptom free at the mo go with the old says of if it ain't broke don't try to fix it! Like I said earlier I dose our little man on symptoms only and have never had him tested and it would appear that I am not the only one working from symptoms. If your...

Hi yes it's sort of like that but obviously lower down his neck and on each side they feel almost perfect circles and they don't really move. Vet said possibly an abscess but blood work showed no fighting of infection. It's concerns me as if it lymphnoma the other lymph nodes are much deeper on...

Hi def not grass glands as brought him in, much to his dismay, for over a week and now change except for the higher smaller of the two lumps getting bigger! I haven't noticed anything under his tail but will check fully tomorrow. I'm thinking thyroid or lymphoma :(. That pic is at least a year...

    Recent costs of Pergolide

I think if it were me and my horse I would go with my gut instinct. I haven't followed my gut in the past and have put my faith in others only to prove that I was right all along. I think I would stick at the 3 for now and if she gets worse then you can up it a little bit, also jumping up from...

    Recent costs of Pergolide

How is your horse in it's self tho? My vets dont even run the cushings test as they said the results can be off sue to all sorts of things so they go by symptoms and tbh it works a treat with our little man. 4mg is quite alot i think depending on the size of your horse. My vet said to be very...

    Thyroid Carsinoma

Do you have any pics of the lump? Just asking as my horse has lumps either side of his neck and the vet doesn't know what they are..... you could take a look at my pic in my gallery and tell me if its anything like the lump your horse has? I'm really at a loss with my boy now :( Did your...

Does this sound like an abcess?

Could be that the abcess is very high in the hoof and may burst through the coronet band rather than out the bottom of the foot. i wouldn't give to mch bute, just enough to take the edge off, as if she's really damaged herself then being lame is natures way of making her rest that limb to give...

    HELP!! Strange Lumps

Hi everyone. I did post on here some time ago about my horse having large lumps in his neck behind his jaw. Well the vet has been back and sone blood test (all clear & normal) and a swab from up his nose which showed some bacteria. He had 10 days of antibiotics which have done absolutely...

    Cushings testing.

DO NOT allow a dex supression test. the yahoo group is the ECIR group and is very informative. You can get pergolide in the uk as i get it for my daughters pony, i pay anywhere from 47p - 73p per 1000mcg tablet. Good luck :)

    Help, any ideas???

Thanks for the replies. My boy is only 14 and is normally very hardy for an ISH. The first time his glands came up he wasn't having haylage just nice long grass and hard feed twice a day but this time he's got not much grass and is having haylage and hard feed twice a day. My daughters pony...
