What would you do? weanling tearing off older horse's fly veil over the fence

My gelding's field mate did this continually with his fly mask which was really frustrating & he ended up with eye infections. I don't think you can expect the other owner to do much though. I tried putting washing up liquid around the outside edges of the mask which worked quite well. I was a...

    Cream for sheath

I've been using Sudocrem for my gelding, midges have been horrific and it seems to give him some relief. Reduced price at Boots online at the moment!

Help! My horse won’t stay in his paddock.

Even if he has horses all around him it might not be enough for him, it's not the same as being in with others. Mine needs another horse in the paddock/field with him, he will either go through fencing or it will look like he's coping but he actually becomes very anxious.

Senior horse no longer lying down

This was the reason that I started thinking it was time for my mare. She was rolling less and hardly lying ever lay down. If you watched her in the stable she'd be constantly shifting her weight on her back legs when all her life before that she stood square. She was also ID, 28yrs and on bute...

    Kia Sorento snow/mud/towing?

Thanks all. Maybe the reviews I read were about the older model which I would've gone for but the mpg wasn't as good. Glad to know it's not just me and maybe I need to look at selling & getting something else :(

    Kia Sorento snow/mud/towing?

I recently bought a 2014 Kia Sorento as I wanted something that would tow up to 2500kg but not as thirsty (or pricey!) as Discovery, Landcruiser, Pathfinder. I'd read a few threads that people loved theirs, good to tow etc but I hate it! When we had snow it couldn't make it up a not...

    Northern Ireland Horse Community

I lived in NI for a couple of years. While we were sorting out our stables I had mine at a livery yard near Castlewellan forest and the hacking was lovely. However when I moved them home the hacking wasn't great. Unfortunately there are no bridleways so although you're surrounded by fields &...

    Which Stable would be best?

Stable 2, ventilation/air flow is really important. Have had a low roof & horse started coughing so we had to knock out a back window to improve ventilation.

Horses + work + young children

I gave up the stable, went for grass livery & reduced my expectation of actually getting a ride to once a week! Even less chance in school holidays. I'm desperate for a horse i can do a bit with but realistically i just won't have the time til the kids can be left at home for a couple of hours...

Honda CRV 2.2 litre for towing?

I have a 56 plate, wanted the newest of the old model as it has the squarer boot shape for the dog. Also has a flip up rear window in the back door which again is handy for dog. I've only towed a few times lightweight trailer with small pony so about 1200kg, it was fine but the clutch isn't up...

Still having catching drama - now in a pen

Ok so perhaps that works if they're so hungry they're desperate. But at some point they have to go back in a field of grass unless you intend to keep them stabled or in a grass free pen for the rest of their days?

Still having catching drama - now in a pen

Jinx94 i'm sorry I have no helpful advice but just wanted to say I get it. It's not as simple as feed every day, be nice to him etc. My pony did 3 weeks refusing to be caught, walked him down for hours, wore him out, sat quietly, behaviourist, fed him, penned him, drugged him. It was only when...

How much Sedalin to clean willy?

My 16hh middleweight was asleep on his feet with 3ml. 14.2 pony had 10ml (vet's instruction) & didn't really effect him.

    Resting hind legs

My old girl always used to stand square so I knew when she started alternately resting her back legs that her arthritis was getting to her.
