    Re careers and horses.

I understand where you're coming from. I moved to London 5 years ago now and have relied on horse shares/random schooling projects. Like you I need to have a purpose to my riding and I want to compete rather than do all the hard work for someone else.

I have a demanding job that was my dream, but my career development has plateaued during the recession and it doesn't pay enough for London part livery to be an option. DIY is a non-starter.

I am seriously considering packing in the dream job and moving back to the area I grew up in. I turn 30 next year and am determined to get out eventing. Up north I have family, friends and a horsey OH, plus my London CV looks great to employers up there.

Seems like a no-brainer but so hard to give up my job.

Sorry for the long message - just wanted you to know that you're not alone. You have plenty of time to work it all out, and marketing does pay better as you move up the grades. x
