Help, I think I have lost my nerve (completely)

Thank you again everyone. Have now ordered an Acavello pad. I do have lots of lovely support at my yard and have put pony (Alfie) on part livery during the week now so that he gets ridden more regularly, as during term time I only get to ride at weekends. I know buying a 4 year old was a risk...

Help, I think I have lost my nerve (completely)

Thank you everyone so much. Lots of excellent advice and lots to think about. I am ordering an Acavello seat saver to try to start with and have decided to take things very slowly for now. I am also going to look at stock saddles as I had heard elsewhere that they keep you very secure but had...

Help, I think I have lost my nerve (completely)

Thank you welshcobabe and Sir barnaby. I am certainly going to buy an acavello gel seat saver as a starter. I was thinking of trying a Bareback treeless saddle as they look a little more secure. I was only walking the second time I fell off, but really hit the ground with a thud and I only...

Help, I think I have lost my nerve (completely)

Back in February last year I bought myself an elderly thoroughbred gelding to hack about on and maybe progress to some low level dressage. However it soon became apparent I had seriously over estimated my abilities at the age of 63 and I took a nasty fall in the school ending up in A&E with...

    Pony may be stolen

Thank you for the advice regarding the gates - onto it. Everyone local is aware - most came our when police arrived! Close neighbour is Hunt Secretary and she is putting the word around through her contacts. Hopefully nothing more will come of it - although it was all very strange.

    Pony may be stolen

Police have their details and are familiar with the site they live on. One policeman knows the brother of one of the men too. Ponies are both now in a paddock in front of the house and all gates are padlocked inside the yard. External gates will also now be locked at night. Pony is a bugger to...

    Pony may be stolen

Update. They came back 9pm. Friend called 999. 3 police cars with sirens arrived at speed, together with YO, husband and neighbors. White van blocked in driveway by police cars. Big row - original man, another man and a little boy around 5 years. Police calmed everyone and said although...

    Pony may be stolen

This is what I am hoping has happened while I have been at work today. It was certainly one of the things I suggested to my friend on the phone last night. I personally have a spare stable and the stable next to mine is empty. However I think that grazing somewhere pretty secluded might be...

    Pony may be stolen

So sorry. I used to contribute a lot many years ago but got scared off. Feeling very brave dipping my toe in the H&H water again therefore excuse me if I take unnecessary offence!

    Pony may be stolen

I dont know if the pony has the same name - that is something I would have asked them and many other questions if I had been there. I was presuming that rather than it being stolen that it had been sold without their permission (same thing I suppose) but then might have taken his name with him...

    Pony may be stolen

All good advice, thank you. Cant say I have noticed his whorls, but hopefully the passport has recorded some.

    Pony may be stolen

I agree, on the face of it. However I wasnt there and dont know if, for instance, they new the pony's name, age, where it had come from, plus any other bits of history that only previous owners might know. I dont know how much my friend asked - she was in such a state I doubt she asked much at...

    Pony may be stolen

I am tempted to agree. The fact that they would not give their names or a contact number would have had me bloody suspicious and I think that if she had tried to take a pic of their van reg they may have fled.
