i bought a horse a year ago that was just what i wanted, the owner told me she had a wart on her elbow, which i looked at and my vet also looked at and said it seemed normal and not to worry..
2 months later it got a lot bigger and three more developed plus another one on her chest..

i havnt read the whole thread yet but i want to reply tell you that i had a beautiful 17hh ex racehorse for 2 years..but he was very ill for the last year .ispent alot of money keeping him sound and then he fell apart,he couldnt even stand up prperly , so i decided he would have to be put...
do what your heart says, i understand totally about your husband not liking it..my husband hates animals(wonder why i married him)...i have a rescue donkey at my house ,called eugene and two rescue dogs..i think i will have to divorce my husband soi can have more rescue animals..really...
you say you want a more challeging ride?she sound challeging enough....if you want to sell her, .she wont come back to you if you are honest about her just be honest...there is too many people out there sellling horses that tell lies....

thats a hard question to answer really...with all the problems he has , he is probably worth nothing to a normal buyer, bur because you love him, he is worth something to you,so you need to play hard ball with his owners and tell them that you are willing to take him on...for nithing..
i live in ireland..beside cavan equestrian centre where there are sales on every other month and alot of the horses go across the water from the sales.
at the moment there are great bargains to be had because we are in a "recession".
i would say you would definaitly get a better bargain buying...
my daughter had her first gallop today...we were doing our usual hack and she has kept talking about galloping(and i knew she was ready on her 17yr old pony)...so we did our usual canter and i just pushed my horse on faster and she kept up........she loved it...she is ten years old..i am proud...
as you already know, his is the problem when someone gets an underwieght /rescue tb..or warmblood....they are quiet because they lack energy, once you feed them up to their proper weight, the fun starts!!!!..
