So what has British Eventing done wrong?

At the moment in the South East I'm struggling to get a run at 90 either affiliated or unaffiliated. I don't want to travel more than 2hrs each way and with so many events no longer in the calendar this is difficult. Chilham BE & Rackham Unaff both cancelled Blindley Heath (taking over from...

    Eventing in the South East

Firle still runs but the date has moved since the organisers changed. Pulborough no longer runs BE. Others lost include Ashurst, Brockenhurst, Crockstead,Petworth and Stilemans.

Bit of a breakthrough.... I hope

AE lovely to hear a positive post following a disappointing period. I have enjoyed reading about your journey and do feel that there is lots left to come. It is disappointing that Amber came back as she did. When I first got my chestnut mare (in my sig) my yard owner rode her for a week to...

    Combined Training

I've seen this before at more "dressage focussed" venues. We do have one good venue who run CT with BE dressage tests so they run 80/90/100/N & I and follow the BE SJ heights

    Second BE Season Review.

Have loved reading your event reports and seeing the improvement in the partnership. You have been inspiring as I look to return back to eventing next year after a 9 year break (6 years will little or no riding). Although I have previously competed up to intermediate with the chestnut mare ;)...

    Time dilation and contraction

As you (and others) have said it's "balance, rhythm, looking ahead, body position and core strength" Some of the pros make it look so easy because they are able to make small corrections well away from the jumps and keep coming in a rhythm. When I looked at the video there were some of the XC...

Retirement Livery - Personal Recommendations pleeease?!

Hi, I can also recommend maple farm liveries - I have had a horse there for several years (the 17.3 Palomino if you look on the website).

Qualifications, experience etc... important for you when choosing a trainer?

I have had lessons with numerous 4* eventers as well as PSG dressage riders and I can honestly say that riding experience is no guarantee of how well they can teach or impart information. Some are simply gifted in a way that they don't really understand how they do something. Some of them...

Carnaval Drum as an Eventing Sire?

LEC - good luck with your research on SF For info my mare is a Swedish warmblood but the sire was SF (Turban Rose) and the dam was Irish thoroughbred (line to Santas Sleigh / Santa Claus) but as Turban Rose was standing in Sweden that's why she was registered as she is. His earlier foals...

    Olympic Eventing SJ Thread

To be honest I don't think it will make any difference to the medals - there are 8 riders ahead of Dirk fighting for 3 medals so he needs at least 6 to get more penalties than he does and to be honest I just can't see it - although he went clear so did 5 of those above him and Tina only got a...

    Olympic Eventing SJ Thread

I'm sure that Ingrid passing up a place is allowed - I think it has been done before in other sports when only the top 3 in a team are allowed to go forward. It's not like she is giving up her position. Should Zara give up her plave to let William compete in the individual ?

    Olympic Eventing XC Thread

Just noticed on the official website that MK time penalties have been reduced to 1.2 and she is now in 1st place.

What amazes me (Point Two and falling off...)

As others have said it is not essential and there may be good reasons for continuing. It would be possible to use a spare air cannister if the fall was in the warm up - however it takes time for the jacket to deflate so waiting could cause problems with timing and having to warm up again.

Hambledon or Nurstead Novice - thoughts, please?

In my view it really depends on the horses (& riders) strengths and weaknesses. The reason that Nurstead might be seen as a slightly easier first time Novice is that there are a few shared XC fences with the BE100. Overall I think that the Nursead XC is slightly smaller. The route through the...
