I've got one for each pony, the oldest one being 10years old and still going strong... I use them as everyday bridles and never had a problem. However due to reins having rubber I never put these in the washing machine, but I do the rest of the bridle.

I have the Shires one also, mine have never been wet in downpours, and I even use them as light weights in the autumn. (mine live out and are all natives)
I put mine in an incinerator with paper/card at the bottom to start the fire and burnt it as I pulled it. It was all gone within a few hours. The stuff I burnt after leaving to dry ( it had been raining so couldn't start the fire was all gone within 30mins and that was 2 big barrel sized...
