    Vettings ....

I had mine vetted. She had been turned away for a couple of years and even though the owners seemed genuine about why, it gave me piece of mind. After all, even a cheap horse costs as much as an expensive horse to keep at livery!

Wow! Things are VERY different in the US!

Probably about 15 years ago, in a quiet part of Canada away from the huge show circuits, I went horse-searching with a friend on behalf of our trainer. She wanted a sound, sane, schooled gelding that could jump around a 3' course. We couldn't find that for her $6000 budget. Well-bred weanlings...

Because if the horse tries to rub any out, they often rip out that chunk of mane! Believe me. Though by the end of the show season, you might not have any mane left to plait, so maybe killing two birds with one stone?

Braiding can be pretty lucrative, if you're good and fast. With North America hunter plaits you're looking at on average 30-40 perfect, tiny, uniform plaits, done with yarn or waxed thread that must not come out until the end of the day. A pro braider can do them so quickly their hands are a...

    Bitting advice - fussy WB

I've found that my very fussy-faced WB prefers a single jointed, skinny snaffle hung lower in her mouth than I would usually fit it. But that was only after trials with double-jointed bits, fat bits, high bits, leverage bits, etc, etc. When her bit fit wasn't right, it didn't matter what I did...

    Hanoverian X TB for showjumping?!

Breed-wise this is a perfectly suitable cross for show jumping, but it's all down to the individual horse in terms of talent and desire to do the job. It's pretty much impossible to judge on breeding alone!

Oh, how strange. Thanks for the reply, anyway! :)

    Flatwork trainer recs Berks/North Hampshire?

Maybe Dan Jocelyn and his wife Tanya Cleverly, in Ecchinswell just south of Newbury off the A339? Dan's an eventer and Tanya teaches dressage. They're nice, honest and have a great sense of humour. I don't know what they charge, but I suspect they're pretty reasonable.

    South Reading Livery?

I'm considering moving yards as I would like something a little more convenient, but it has to be the right place to leave my current situation. I think I know of most places nearby, but don't know much about them so would like recent personal experiences and recommendations. I'm in Lower...
