Would you ride horse that had reared?

I retired a beautiful home-bred tb mare at 8 because she was a rearer. She went over backwards undersaddle with two dfferent, experienced riders, and investigations couldn't find any physical reasons, She now does it if she feels under any pressure, and has no sense of self preservation at all...

    Unsuitable for rehoming?

I'm not very good at selling, which is how I've ended up with eight. Two are rideable, and I would consider selling, though reluctantly and very warily. The others mostly have health issues. One, a TB mare which we bred ourselves, has problems we have never managed to get to the bottom of. She...

    Sweet itch help

Our shrextb gets it very badly if we're not careful - ths year we didn't get organised in time, and came up one day to find he had demolished part of his stable. A rug 24/7(shire's sweet itch rug), brewers yeast, linseed and salt and Feedmark's itch free have got it back under control.

Can someone please explain the whole, 'My horse is naughty, that makes me a good rider...my horse is bigger, that makes me better' attitude?

My daughter worked for a year with a 15h horse which came to us frightened of his own shadow. Once she started to take hm out and about, she got quite used to comments like ' he looks very sweet, but he's not really a showjumper'. It increased the satisfaction when she beat them.

Sweet Itch - Best ways to control it

WE tried all sorts wth our very itchy horse, but have found that feeding him only dried grass and speedibeet, with salt, linseed and brewers yeast works best - last year we didn't even rug him and he was fine.

Straight Hocks - Would it put you off?

I've got a straight hocked mare, who showjumped up to 1.20 and was incredibly fast, although we didn't overcomoete her. Unfotunately, now she's 17, she is lame with arthritis, which is in her hocks and her back. The vets think it's unsurprising, given her conformation.

Connemara x ID anyone have one ?

We had one supposedly bred like that, but unregistered. One of the best little horses we've ever had - quick, scopy and loving. My daughter took great pleasure one day beating two girls on tall warmbloods who had said in the collecting ring 'he's very sweet, but he's not a proper showjumper...
