Hi,
If anyone has bought one of these I would be grateful if you could share your experience. We are inundated with Horseflies at the moment, the horses hate it, and I am having bad reactions to the bites myself.
£180 does seem quite pricey though.
We moved on to wood pellets about a nine months ago as we have a two year old mare who is a bed destroyer. We are lucky as our stables all have mats.
I have found that the best bed for our three year old gelding is approx two inches deep. The bed is skipped out twice in the evenings and in the...
Beware they are very addictive.
We bought an imported mare from Mandy Wheatcroft at Millpark Stud near Leicester about 15 years ago. She was one of those horses of a lifetime beautiful temperament, easy to do and very clever.About five years ago she had to have an operation on her hock and...
Hi,
You could try West Hallam Riding Centre
http://www.westhallamridingcentre.co.uk/default.html
and I believe that there is still a livery yard at Birchwood Farm, Coxbench. The farmer was Stuart Crooks when my sister worked there. I am not sure about a school here.
there are other yards...
We bought a new field recently that has a shared post and rail boundary with a livery yard. When we looked over it it had several broken rails, which were replaced by the seller before we moved horses on. As I have some sheep to tidy up around the horses we decided that we needed to fence...
Hi,
We have mains powered lights (3 x 500W security lights) at one corner of our school. They are mounted on a stable. These are pretty good but leave the far end too dark. recently I bought two rechargeable site lights from screwfix...
Hi,
We have had similar issues with an elderly (23) mare with cushings. She was unshod, and after a trim she would be footsore. Just prior to a farrier visit we had both front feet xrayed. We showed the xrays to our farrier who said that she had really thin soles. After a trim that didn't...
Hi,
If this is for your horse the I would give Emma Punt a call http://www.emmapunt.com/
She was very good when our Andalusian was getting over his broken neck and is currently working on another one of ours. We are in Derbyshire and she covers Notts, Derbys and Lincs
If you do decide on sand you would be better with silica sand not builders.
I think that Silica sand is made up of lots of little cubes and builders sand lots of little spheres, so silica is firmer and drains better.
We have a school that is a mix of plastic granules and sand which we bought...
Please excuse a simple question, I don't want to cause any offence, but all of the other posters have assumed that you are female and are looking for larger women's wear, and I wondered is this the case?
If not then I believe that http://www.fasttackdirect.co.uk/ has men's riding wear in...
Hi,
This is something of a cautionary tale. We (my partner an I) decided to scrap our trailer and upgrade to a horse box. After some searching we decided to use a prestigious supplier in the norst west (PM me if you wan tot know who) we decided on a 3.5 tonne base vehicle and eventually (after...
Hi,
Our local timber/fencing supplier does 12 foot, 4 inch, treated jump poles (unpainted) for £8 + VAT. We then painted them with shed treatment to get a contrast colour.
Hi,
Thanks for the information, we will definitely bear it in mind. I have always had kittens in the past. We got the current boys at age 6 on the rebound from the death of a much loved 20 year old lilac point Siamese. The new boys (Ike and Otis named by previous musical owner) are pedigree...
I really enjoyed the program. If they cannot repeat it, maybe they could resurrect the format? It would be a nice change. I know the world is a difficult and challenging place, but just for an hour or so it is nice to be back in the pullein-thompson/pat smyth/ruby ferguson universe.
