why are some horses better doers than others?

Same as humans, but the other way around. I hate being a good doer... ;)

What luxuries have you given up to keep a horse?

Shock. Are we meant to go to regular ones? :o I have contact lenses, and just order the lenses in. I haven't been to opticians for at least 5 years!

At my wits end!!! help please

This cannot be for real. Surely not... If it really is as bad as it sounds, I'd seriously question the vet.

What luxuries have you given up to keep a horse?

Nice clothes & accessories. Nice car. The one I'm using is on its last leg. One year lifespan max. But I need it for work. I don't really drink, so social life is something like going down to meet friends at a pub and have a juice. Not too bad. Since my friends are all busy, that happens...

Who has a second job onto of a full time job?

I have one full-time job and one freelance. Considering giving up the freelance though to free up some time, and work on a project that is 100% mine. Be warned though - most people can only do the two jobs at once for a limited time, and then burn out.

Are we producing horses that are unrideable?

Sometimes, it's not the owner though but the yard manager. When my mare (who's difficult as is) was 3 years old, I wanted to only feed her forage on top of the daily turnout. At the time, she wasn't doing anything apart from 20 minutes or so freeschooling, so seriously didn't need anything. Yard...

Are we producing horses that are unrideable?

By the way, I don't really like the fact that this thread has way too many people assuming that Warmbloods are the problem horses while cobs and those without specific breeding are deemed to be safe. Having grown up in Germany, about 90% of all horses I saw were WBs, closely followed by TBs...

Are we producing horses that are unrideable?

A while back, horses got bred to perform, but those that couldn't reach the top could be used as 'leisure horses'. The more they breed for success though, the less likely the above can happen. What will happen to those horses that may be powerful, etc. but not of Olympic potential? The thing...

For those from the "generations" thread...

How do horsey events make money??

I am still very saddened that the British Open Show Jumping Championships are no more. I used to LOVE going to that, but... :( The reason they gave for 'culling' it was financial, I remember. So I was thinking... how do horsey events make money? I mean it costs quite a bit to stage them. Can...

What do you work as/whats your job

Oh Lord! I saw a TV programme of very eccentric people buying those dolls once. That seriously creeped me out somewhat...

Why do so many people overhorse themselves?

I bought mine as a youngster. I looked at her breeding and thought she was going to be similar to other horses I know of that had very similar breeding (you could put a 10-year-old kid on a 4-year-old horse). One thing I COMPLETELY forgot was that they were geldings, and she's a mare. I can't...
