My 31yo is like this. Super feisty, very fast and keen. She is not in any way stiff and has never had supplements or any medication. I have never tired her out and most horses have to jog to keep up with her power walk which is more like a run!

I trot my ponies on the roads, not for long but usually up the steep hills. I also trot and canter on hard gravel tracks. I wouldn’t canter on the road as I wouldn’t want to risk slipping and also spooks are high speed from trot, never mind from canter, I also have better brakes from trot.

As does my 31yo!

One of my small local riding clubs still has ‘fun’ shows with a bit of everything including novelty classes.

That’s exactly what I did! If the show was a bit far to hack to in one go, I would find someone with a field that I could put my pony in overnight!

I put stuff into job lots and sell on local horse Facebook groups. eBay charges too much these days and it’s a nightmare selling stuff individually as people don’t turn up and don’t bother to let you know.

I have 2 ponies who never grow much of a coat. My TB x new forest and my Sec D. The others are woolly as normal.

I like midway between the two! I like a lively feisty mare but one that just cracks on with the job in hand.
