I would have my money on a deer ked. Just one sent my girl nuts however a good bath with an insecticidal shampoo quickly dealt with it.

48" is pony sized, I'd call the place you bought them from and get some full sized (usually 54"). Don't know of any companies that actually do a separate cob size.

I'd recommend an IR - either from Jefferies or made up to measure by the creators at Stroud Saddlery. Based on extensive research and can be tweaked to suit your horses specific needs. You can just get the head piece too if you don't want to shell out on a whole new bridle. Really are super!
