The saddle makes the most enormous difference. I get alot of discomfort in my Fairfax gp (basically the same as a Thorowgood or Kent and Masters), enormously better in my Albion Kontrol Jump. A combination of saddle shape, narrow twist and shorter leathers makes all the difference in the world...
They are falling in increasing numbers at the moment, picking up handfulls upon handfulls each day.
Would cut them down in a flash if I could, but they border the yard we rent so we are stuck with carefully walking the fields each day and picking the damn things up one by one!
Hi,
Hope someone local out there can help?
Wondering what the hacking is like in this area? Thinking of boxing over to Bringsty Common for a nice hack as the pics I've seen look gorgeous. Is this area good for hacking? Do I need a permit or anything?
Thanks for any help you can give!
48" is pony sized, I'd call the place you bought them from and get some full sized (usually 54"). Don't know of any companies that actually do a separate cob size.
Hi,
I didn't know there was a website, but can help you out if you are wanting to visit?
There is parking at the edge of Hailey wood on the Stroud road, then you can ride in Hailey wood, or cross the road into the park. There is precious little parking around the park, best bet would be to...
Wow, I didn't know you could do that!!
I think with OH though he'd probably rather something more 'normal' though lol! A straight Dr or SJ lesson, DR with someone with a classical leaning would go do well I think if there is someone like that with a nice schoolmaster?
Hi,
I'm thinking of getting OH a lesson (or a few of) as a birthday pressie. Ideally it would be on a schoolmaster and in the midlands. Not sure flatwork or jumping, fantastic lesson experience would be more important. OH is an experienced rider, and I think would really enjoy and benefit from...
Not had heritage saddlery do it - but I have had my jump saddle tweaked a tiny bit wider by my saddler.
A few things to be aware of - it isn't a magic fix, realistically you can only go up or down 1/2 a width fitting. Doing this will weaken the rivets in the gullet plate. Ideally the saddler...
Got to be a Cleveland Bay! Unusual, and will be the most intelligent, kindest and grandest soul you'll ever have the privilege to ride!
Our girl has an absolute heart of gold, plenty of presence though yet totally safe with it. She moves wonderfully and after being a show jumper she is now...
I'd recommend an IR - either from Jefferies or made up to measure by the creators at Stroud Saddlery. Based on extensive research and can be tweaked to suit your horses specific needs. You can just get the head piece too if you don't want to shell out on a whole new bridle. Really are super!
