How would you define 'forward going'?

To me it would be a horse that moves willingly with its ears pricked forwards at a marching purposeful pace. Anything with a bit of spring in their step with the desire to jig jog and leap around a bit I would call fizzy!.

Any one else thinking of cutting hay?

Just finished silaging. My partner was toying with the idea of doing some early hay. He has a few friends already in the process of doing so.

    New Connie owner, any advice?

Wonderful breed! I've owned 2 and ridden a fair few part breds. Very very kind and lovely with other horses and mainly level headed!. They do have a very stubborn streak and can be bargy to handle, so need firm boundaries set. They love work and are very quick learners and can turn their hooves...

    Lamb scabby mouth

Thanks for the update! Glad the blue spray has worked, its good stuff!. We use it all the time, you can spray in between their toes if you have any foot troubles, it bubbles up and stimulates the area to heal and kill infection.

    Lamb scabby mouth

    Lamb scabby mouth

No we dont know where Orf comes from either. We 'scratch' our lambs for Orf with Scabivax before they are turned out, but we still have the odd few that get it, even worse if they spread it to the ewe when they suck and give her mastitis. But least you dont have that to worry about being cade...

    Lamb scabby mouth

That sounds like Orf. We tend to spray affected areas with blue spray and it usually clears up in a couple of weeks. Careful, as it can be passed onto humans, so wash hands throughly after handling.

    Saddler.....What would you Do?

Cobs and Natives are ever more popular riding horses nowadays, hence the need for wider saddles? Looking at the local tack shop's 2nd hand stock with many saddles from the 80's era, it is very difficult to find anything wider than a medium!. Unless you can afford made to measure/brand new, the...
