Thanks everyone, I've just received the happy news that Tess is microchipped and will be free to continue on to her new home. :D

So sorry, didn't realise that the link wouldn't work for others. Pictures are posted on "Cocker Crazy"(closed group hence unavailable link I think) facebook page and also on "Help Find Elvis the Hound"(open) facebook page. She doesn't have a docked tail but will be scanned for a microchip today.

The liver and white spaniel shown in the following link has been purchased by a group of people from the Cocker Crazy FB page following and advert by a man who said that she was a trained gun dog and asked for only £150 or SWAP FOR A GUN!! Something about this rang alarm bells with other dog...
