How can you advise people if you are not qualified in any format, you might be well respected on here because you have lulled people into believing that you can give them legal advise, they you say your not got any legal qualification, nor have you ever passed any qualification to teach people...
You have avoided answering my question, so I will take it that you are unqualified self taught, advising people if they are legal yet people could be driving around the UK and Europe on your advise. So if and when they are stopped and found to be illegally towing, have the car and trailer seized...
passed my ADI in 1986, qualified HGV, car, motorbike and PCV instructor, Driving examiner in the army until 1999, taken 19 driving test combining civilian and army together, worked for VOSA for 5yrs from 1999 to 2004.
How about you?
If you are going to give advise make sure its right, the advise by ROG is wrong, the plated weight did not come law until 19th January 2013, 1997 to 2013 it was the actual weight of the combination as if it was put on a weigh bridge, so therefor the car trailer passengers fuel trailer load etc...
You are giving people wrong advise, pre 1997 have grandfather rights and can drive a combination not exceeding 8250kgs, 1997 to 2013, total of actual combined weight as if being put on a weigh bridge without B+E is 3500kgs, with B+E 7250kgs, 2013 onwards its the total of the tow vehicle gross...

The problem is that a lot of higher companies will not let you tow a trailer with there higher vehicle, and a horse box would need the E element on there driving licence as you do on a car licence
If there is ever an element of doubt in your mind about towing, don't do it. Forget what everybody else says, its you and your horses life's that you are risking and both are too precious to risk, car and trailer can be repaired.
Have you tried asking the seller if they will deliver, you could also try contacting a breakdown recovery company to see if they will move it as a return trip from taking a breakdown vehicle homee
