    keeping horses on their own

I'm not sure there is a right or wrong answer to this one. My boy came to me in October last year from a reasonably large livery yard where he had lots of (equine) company, to our family stables where he is one of 4. The boy and I do ride out with two of the others on occasion where he gets hot...

Welsh Sec D to much for a novice?

Exciting times for you! I bought my first horse in October (D) and he is fab! To be clear he can be a bolshy git at times and has really tested me. As a total novice in horse ownership this could have been really bad news but I share a stable with my OHs really horsey family who give me hints...

    Breaking my section D!

Great thread! I just recently bought my first horse (8 year old D) and have been amazed to learn more about the D 'quirks' with him, he is a total legend, real character but does have a streak, which from reading your comments is more his breed than him being an arse... Serious Scouring Problem

Hi there - I had this problem with my new horse who prior to coming to me was turned out permanently on grass. At my yard coming into winter (and due to rubbish weather/lack of grazing) I had to supplement his diet. He's sooo picky and wouldn't touch hay, so bought him some ryegrass haylage...

    SOS Saddlery

old thread but, I bought a 2nd hand SOS GP saddle which is great, really really comfortable however have no experience of using them to fit a bespoke saddle. My boy is a 15.1hh section D, pretty typical conformation so no special requirements saddle wise. No complaints from me

    HHO Winter Survival Guide.

It's my first winter of horse ownership and well, hasn't mother nature given me a real treat with all of this rain! My paddock was newly leveled and seeded this year which means its not properly settled yet and was cutting up terribly before the really bad weather. The dude cob has taken it...
