Same here in Canada. I have a leaser for both of mine, no chores expected but that’s because they’re on full board. I think cost wise it’s a little more than say a normal lesson horse, but they have more flexibility of when they can ride, and also able to ride outside of a lesson.

I had a very bad habit of leaning forward when asking as my brain seemed to think this helped go faster 🤷♀️ the horse I initially learnt on was tolerant of this, Sugar however was not and I spent a lot of time on the arena floor 🤣 not a technique I would recommend though!

We do turn on the forehand (or forehead as I call it so I can remember what I am moving!) also turn on haunches which I am less good at, mainly because I get my left and right mixed up and often use the wrong aid combo :-( Luckily Sugar can usually figure out what I mean :-D
