Everything?
a) I would imagine its not IMPOSSIBLE to end up a pro from a completely standing start, but it will be a very expensive (and steep!) learning curve.
b) You need two or preferably three+ experienced ponies, or access to them. Breed is irrelevant if they are already trained, but...
"Fit to Ride" sounds interesting, do you know what it involves? Is it on- or off-horse training? I'm sure everything will come together in time.
If I were looking for exercises to improve both core and leg stability, I'd do loads and loads of no-stirrup work. Obviously building up your core...
He is a beautiful horse, and congrats on the win!
A wee bit of constructive criticism, though; instead of just sticking spurs on and crossing your fingers, though, you might think about going back to basics for a bit and doing some work on stabilising your lower leg. You CAN'T pony club-kick...
But being a business, they should be run in a professional manner. If Yard Owners cannot provide facilities and maintain them in an acceptable state, then they should stop advertising that they have those facilities, and price themselves accordingly.
I don't think many people are silly...
I'd forgotten all about this thread! I have actually seen a rise in the numbers of people competing (BSJA and dressage) in service uniform recently, which I think is great.
As for the person who asked me two years ago what I meant by my comment about the Navy -all i meant was, you wouldn't...
Spudlet, i agree with you that violence is not justified. i don't like the way this thread is going. Threatening to send the horses to market, dying them pink, barricading the fields, these are all acceptable but talking about beating the travellers up and attacking their homes is not really on.
The cattle are supposed to be there, its the horses that are the problem. Unfortuantely the sort of people who leave threatening notes on field gates are rarely the sort of people with whom one could have a "reasonable chat".
Hi Niamhybee, the short answer is, its not easy, and if you aren't lucky enough to come from a horsy family or have parents who are absolutely loaded, its even harder. Do you have riding lessons now, would your riding school let you help out on Saturdays or something? That's a brilliant way to...
If your parents really aren't prepared to let you have a horse (and they are terribly expensive things -horses, not parents!), then virtually nothing you can say will talk them round. I bet I am not the only person on this forum who BEGGED for a horse throughout their entire childhood, and had...
Laura, you're turned out beautifully for ridden showing, and you wouldn't look "wrong" dressed like that for in-hand. If you want to be truly correct, you should wear beige/cream trousers rather than jods. They don't have to be special "showing" trousers, a wander round M&S or Matalan should...
It would be strange if the 8 horses actually existed and he couldn't afford lessons, but since i think the 8 horses are in fact just figments of some twerp's imagination (and of course, it IS half-term) its not really strange at all.
