My YO has recommened Clipper Sharp to me but they don't do my make of clipper (eddie Palin - Maverick) so i can't use them.

I would say it does sound like it would be worth checking for ulcers - is she touchy when you do her girth or when grooming?
To check for ulcers she would need to be scoped by a vet.

I would start with adding oats (whole if you can get them), great for adding extra energy without adding loads of calories to the diet.
Warm water, Fairy Liquid, stiff brush and lots of elbow grease!!
Used to work at a yard where all metal edging etc around and tops of doors had to be scrubbed clean every week, not a job i particularly liked much!
