Labour costs for post and rail fence?

I’ve been quoted £1,600 labour to erect approx 1,200m of post and rail fencing. I am providing all the posts, rails, gates etc. Does this sound about right? Anyone?

Dressage Trainer Cesar Parra Suspended by FEI for Horse Abuse

OMG that poor poor horse - and what owner would want their horse treating like that? All those people running with buckets of water - why didn’t they stop him before it got to that or at least try? If these are the people winning competitions then maybe we should stop competing horses.

Back with another weird horse thing…

My old mare always got hiccups when I got the lorry out. It was definitely nerves with her.

    Gawsworth Track Livery

I follow her on Facebook. She is always right. Always. I don’t know how she finds horses that are shod so badly but to suggest every shod horse looks like this is ridiculous. When I asked her how many of her barefoot liveries were ridden regularly or competed she didn’t reply she just referred...

    Struck off farrier loses appeal

I’m not defending the farrier in any way but my farrier told me that their code of practice says that all horses should be held by someone during shoeing - not just tied up and left. My horses are very good to shoe but occasionally they need a bucket of nuts to occupy them to stop them...

    Help! Vet stumped

My mare had suddenly developed crusty oozing sores around and up inside both nostrils and also on the centre line of her stomach towards the area of her teats. They are very nasty and sore. My vet has taken blood and we should get the results tomorrow. He thinks maybe she has eaten something...

Horses in Aughton, Near Ormskirk in the old days....

Gosh I was a working pupil at Hazel Booths yard Walsh Hall at the bottom of Clieves Hill in my early twenties. I did pony club rallies at Aughton Chase as a kid. I remember Aughton Saddlery.

    Manège at end of life

The manège is 20 years old and has been perfect until about a week ago. It is collecting water in places and as a whole isn’t draining very well. The firm I used to install it are coming out to have a look.

    Manège at end of life

As a rule how long does a professionally installed manège last before it needs replacing i.e because the drains have packed up and the once well drained manège is now holding a lot of water. Just wondered what people’s experiences are. Thanks in advance. XX

Help needed with pasture/ grass management.

Lisa has advised overseeding but I can’t see this getting rid of all the ryegrass.

Help needed with pasture/ grass management.

My 10 acre field is full of ryegrass and clover. The land is free draining slightly acidic sandy soil (soilscapes). I want to achieve a field full of timothy and meadow grasses but haven’t a clue where to start. One advised ploughing, growing a crop for a year then reseeding. Another said no...

    Not feeding grass

Yes 3 of mine can’t have any grass as they get gastric ulcers. I have tried and tried over the years but grass just makes them ill. They are in a grass free track with hay.
